Kim Sang-hyuk's tactless blind date comments spark blunt criticism
Singer Kim Sang-hyuk faces backlash from family and colleagues after asking a blind date about cosmetic procedures on Channel A's Groom Class 2.
Singer Kim Sang-hyuk recently reflected on a past blind date where his careless remarks caused potential discomfort to his partner. Observing the situation, his family and colleagues were unanimous in their blunt advice, stating his words were "not consideration, but rudeness."

In the Channel A variety show "Groom Class 2," which aired on the 14th, the daily life of Kim, who currently lives with his mother, was revealed.
While sharing a meal prepared by his mother, Kim discussed his upcoming blind date. When his mother inquired about the results of his previous first date, Kim reflected on the comments he made to his former partner.
The problematic remarks were numerous.
Kim had told his date, "If you crave a cigarette, you can go out and come back," and even questioned her appearance by asking, "Did you have many procedures?"
Kim explained that he intended to be considerate or complimentary, but the question could be perceived entirely differently by the listener.
Upon hearing this, his mother immediately reprimanded her son.
"That was a mistake. It is only consideration if the other person feels it is consideration," she pointed out firmly. "Don't say things like that. Why would you do that?"
Kim countered, "What if they really are a heavy smoker?" but Oh Jong-hyeok refused to take his side either.
Oh advised, "Once you become comfortable, they will say it themselves. You have to wait," suggesting it is proper to wait until the other person mentions their own tastes or habits first.
Regarding the question about cosmetic procedures, Kim offered his own reasoning.
"They took such good care of themselves for their age. That's why I asked. I asked because they were pretty," he explained.
However, Park So Young highlighted how burdensome such a question could be from the partner's perspective.
"If you hear talk about procedures on a blind date, I feel like I would keep looking in the mirror, wondering, 'Is there something wrong with my face?'" Park said.
The critique noted that regardless of the intent to compliment, such comments can sound like an evaluation or scrutiny of the other person's appearance.
Oh Jong-hyeok, claiming to have seen the actual footage of Kim's blind date, delivered an even harsher evaluation.
He drew laughter by saying, "Sang-hyuk, you're a lost cause," and when Kim looked dejected, admitting things "didn't go well," Oh delivered the finishing blow.
"It's a relief you didn't get slapped."
While intended as a joke, the comment succinctly captured why Kim's blind date failed to go smoothly.
The scene highlighted the common "boundary between consideration and interference" during blind dates. Even if words are intended to make someone feel comfortable, touching upon private matters can become a burden rather than a kindness.
In particular, regarding personal habits like smoking or physical matters like cosmetic procedures, it is safer to wait for the other person to bring them up, even after intimacy has been established.
For Kim, a 43-year-old divorcee seeking a new connection, this experience served as an opportunity to reflect on his communication style. He learned that the recipient's feelings are more important than the speaker's good intentions.
