Koyote's Bbaek Ga clears air on Moon Won 'facial expression' controversy
Koyote member Bbaek Ga addresses past rumors regarding his reaction to SHIN JI's husband, Moon Won, dispelling claims of disapproval.
Bbaek Ga, a member of the group Koyote, has directly addressed the so-called "facial expression controversy" involving SHIN JI's husband, Moon Won. Addressing the various speculations that circulated online following the couple's marriage announcement, he clarified that there was a "misunderstanding," candidly explaining the context and his true intentions.

On the 21st, a pre-release video was posted on the official YouTube channel of the MBN entertainment program "Someone Else's Family" ahead of its broadcast. The video captures Bbaek Ga and Kim Jong Min meeting the couple, SHIN JI and Moon Won, for a heart-to-heart conversation about life since the marriage.
During the conversation, Bbaek Ga caused a burst of laughter on set by telling Moon Won, "When I look at you, I am looking at you with eyes of love." Taken by surprise by the unexpected remark, Moon Won reacted with bewilderment, asking, "You, hyung-nim, are looking at me like that?" Bbaek Ga explained, "I worry that if I look at you without thinking, people might misunderstand and think I still hold bad feelings from before, so I consciously try harder."
The remark was interpreted as a direct reference to the controversy that flared up during the announcement of SHIN JI and Moon Won's marriage last year. At that time, the couple met Koyote members Kim Jong Min and Bbaek Ga to share the news, during which Moon Won candidly revealed that he had been previously married and had a daughter with his former spouse.
Following Moon Won's revelation, a scene was released where Bbaek Ga said, "I'm sorry, but I'll be right back after a quick bathroom break," and left the seat. His stiff expression as he stood up spread rapidly across online communities and SNS. Some netizens raised various speculations, interpreting it as "Isn't he opposing the marriage?", "His expression looks like he doesn't approve of Moon Won," or "The atmosphere on set cooled down abruptly."
However, many noted that the controversy was amplified by "contextless consumption," where the scene was judged based solely on a short clip. In the digital landscape, a culture of "reading expressions" often emerges, where short, edited clips and gestures are consumed in isolation, leading to meanings that differ from the actual situation. In particular, the tendency to interpret the private relationships of celebrities through fragmentary videos has been identified as a factor that amplifies controversy regardless of the facts.
SHIN JI also previously cautioned against such overinterpretations, stating, "People misunderstood and thought Bbaek Ga disliked Moon Won because they only saw the moments when he had no expression." She explained that a video extracted from a specific scene can create an impression different from the actual atmosphere and requested that people refrain from hasty speculation.
In this broadcast, Bbaek Ga drew a line by saying, "It's not like we are that kind of relationship," and ended the scene with laughter by joking, "That's why I actually try to look at you even more beautifully than how SHIN JI looks at you." His remarks are seen as a playful way to dispel rumors of discord while indirectly confirming that he holds no negative feelings toward Moon Won.
Since marrying singer Moon Won last May, SHIN JI has been communicating with the public by sharing her newlywed life through YouTube and various entertainment programs. This broadcast highlights the enduring friendship and family-like bond with the Koyote members, effectively putting an end to the speculations surrounding the marriage announcement.
