Lee Ji-hye avoids 'nuisance renovation' controversy

Singer and entertainer Lee Ji-hye shared the interior design process of her new home, expressing deep gratitude and consideration toward her neighbors. As controversies regarding "nuisance renovations" have repeatedly surfaced during large-scale celebrity moves and remodeling projects, Lee's thoughtful attitude is drawing significant attention.

On the 27th, Lee released a video titled "First Reveal of the 40-pyeong Remodeled House I Moved Into, Putting Everything into It" on her YouTube channel, Mipji Aneun Gwanjong Unni.

In the video, Lee introduced her new home, stating, "I used to live in an 80-pyeong house, but now I have downsized to 49 pyeong." She expressed satisfaction with the new space, adding, "The scale is smaller, but I think it will be fine to live in since we renovated it so efficiently."

She specifically noted that she focused heavily on securing storage space during the interior process. "Storage was the most important thing during the construction. I had many requests, and they accepted all of them," she explained, describing the efforts made to ensure high-quality results.

While revealing the finished home, she also directly addressed the inevitable inconvenience caused to residents during the construction process.

The interior site manager explained, "Since it is an old house, we focused more on making it sturdy and safe rather than just making it pretty. We also tried to carry out structural changes properly within the boundaries of the law." He continued by expressing gratitude, saying, "The surrounding residents were very accommodating."

In response, Lee repeatedly expressed her thanks, saying, "The residents must have been very uncomfortable. We said we would be as careful as possible, but construction is bound to be noisy and inconvenient. I am so grateful for their understanding."

Lee's remarks are garnering even more interest as they coincide with recent controversies involving the interior renovations of certain celebrities.

Previously, actress Ki Eun Se was embroiled in a "nuisance renovation" controversy during her move to a villa in Pyeongchang-dong, Seoul, as residents complained about issues involving construction vehicles, waste, and noise. At the time, one netizen claimed via SNS that the long-term construction made alleyway passage difficult and that the surrounding environment was not being properly managed.

Subsequently, Ki's side stated that they apologized to the residents who raised concerns and took measures such as cleaning and resolving vehicle issues.

In contrast, Lee emphasized consideration for the neighbors living alongside her during the process, rather than focusing on the scale or the final result. Instead of simply claiming "there were no problems," her acknowledgment of the inconvenience caused by the construction and her expression of gratitude are receiving positive reactions.

As luxury residential spaces and large-scale renovations by celebrities have become hot topics recently, Lee's case demonstrates that "the way to remain a good neighbor" is just as important as having a "good house."
