Mija Taken Aback as SK hynix Shares Fall After Investment Reveal: "The Comments Are in Chaos"
Korean comedian Mija shared her surprise after SK hynix shares fell soon after she revealed her investment, prompting joking reactions online.
Korean comedian Mija expressed her bewilderment after revealing that she had invested in SK hynix, only to see the stock price fall shortly afterward.

On July 2, Mija posted on her social media account, "What is going on as soon as I uploaded yesterday that I bought hynix on YouTube?" Alongside the message, she shared a captured image showing the price movement of the stock she had purchased.
The image she released included a screen showing a decline in SK hynix shares, as well as comments left by viewers on her YouTube channel. Mija added, "hynix plunged today. The YouTube comments are in chaos." Some online users responded with jokes, writing comments such as, "Was this the reason for the plunge?" "Please sell it," and "We're doomed," taking the situation in a lighthearted way.
The post drew more attention because it followed closely after content uploaded the day before. On July 1, a video was posted on Mija's YouTube channel, "Mijane Jumak," under the title, "Mija, who lost 100 million won in stocks a few days ago. Which stock did she go all-in on again with nerves of steel?"
In the video, her husband, comedian Kim Tae-hyun, brought up Mija's investing experience and said, "There has been a lot of talk because of stocks. She took a loss of nearly 100 million won."
Mija then explained how she felt at the time, saying, "I accepted a large loss and sold, but after that the stock price rose by about 20%." She added that after locking in the loss, she was so upset that she could not stop crying.
Kim Tae-hyun went on to reveal that, after the loss, Mija had chosen SK hynix as her new investment target. Mija showed her determination, saying, "I will recover the loss and get out." However, after she disclosed the investment, the stock price fell, and she shared the unexpected turn of events on social media while honestly conveying how flustered she felt.
Online, many reactions humorously linked the timing of Mija's investment disclosure with the stock's decline. However, that does not mean there was any direct causal relationship with market price movements. The price of an individual stock is determined by a combination of market factors, including corporate earnings outlooks, the global semiconductor business climate, supply and demand from foreign and institutional investors, and the broader macroeconomic environment, making it difficult to conclude that a specific individual's investment disclosure was directly connected to a stock price movement.
Mija is the daughter of actors Jang Gwang and Jeon Sung-ae. Through broadcasting and YouTube, she has communicated with the public by candidly sharing her everyday life and investment experiences. In 2022, she married comedian Kim Tae-hyun, who is five years older than her, and the couple has drawn interest through various content that presents realistic newlywed life and money-related stories in a humorous way.
