MY Q opens up about the weight of fatherhood with Kim Na-young

Singer and artist MY Q has candidly shared his deep affection for his two sons alongside the realistic struggles of parenting within the daily life of the family he shares with Kim Na-young.

His confession—that it is harder precisely because he dreams of being a perfect father—goes beyond the special environment of a 'remarried family' to capture the essence of parenting that any parent can empathize with.

On the 26th, a video titled 'The reason why Na-young's family being complete in Paris was even happier than expected♥' was released on Kim Na-young's YouTube Channel.

The video captures the travel story of Kim Na-young, MY Q, and the two children traveling together to Paris, France. The four visited a local brunch cafe, where they utilized a kids' club program for the children.

Kim Na-young explained, “This restaurant operates a kids' club so the children can participate in prepared activities,” adding, “I don't know what the activities are, but they might be fun or they might not be.”

As the children moved to the kids' club, Kim Na-young and MY Q were granted a rare moment of quiet time. However, within that tranquility, the two began to rethink the meaning of the role of 'father.'

MY Q opened up about the special pressure he feels during conversations with the children.

He revealed that the children constantly pose questions to him, saying, “The questions directed at Dad begin.”

Kim Na-young also laughed, noting, “It's not that the children ask me questions, they only ask Dad.”

The level of questions MY Q shared went beyond simple curiosity.

He explained, “It starts with 'Who do you think would win between Curry and Jordan?' and goes up to questions like, 'If Curry has bigger feet and Jordan has longer arms, who do you think would win?'”

Admiring the children's imaginative questions, Kim Na-young exclaimed, “The questions are very creative.”

However, for MY Q, this process was not always lighthearted. He said, “My personality doesn't allow me to be half-hearted. I want to do it sincerely.”

This is because he wants to answer every single question accurately and even wants to look things up to tell them if he doesn't know.

At this, Kim Na-young laughed and said, “That's why it's stressful. The children seem to think Dad knows everything. But because Dad doesn't find it annoying and answers them with sincerity, they keep asking questions.”

MY Q also revealed his own parenting survival method.

He drew laughter by revealing, “The method I've mastered is a '5-minute question ban.' Then the children wait exactly five minutes before asking again.”

He continued with a joke, “I think they ask Dad because they believe Mom doesn't know much about sports. I'm grateful.”

Yet, within that, there was also a sense of regret that the time spent with the children will eventually change.

MY Q said, “I always think this. The day will gradually come when they don't ask Dad questions anymore.”

To this, Kim Na-young offered encouragement, saying, “Then Dad will be the one asking questions. Let's answer their questions affectionately for now.”

MY Q also vowed, “I will become a father who can listen even to the children's small groans.” He then added honestly, “But even I find it tiring,” providing a moment of realistic laughter.
