Dayoung sparks laughter with "four divorces" joke on 'Love War'
Singer Dayoung caused a stir on the JTBC variety show 'Love War' after making a joke about having four divorces, prompting a warning from Lee Hyo-ri and a reaction from Seo Jang-hoon.
Singer Dayoung turned the filming set into a sea of laughter with an unexpected "divorce confession" during a broadcast. While discussing the themes of dating and marriage, she joked, "I've already had four divorces." Lee Hyo-ri immediately intervened, telling her to "watch your words," while Dayoung quickly apologized after noticing the reaction of Seo Jang-hoon, who has experience with divorce, creating a peculiar moment of laughter.
In the episode of the JTBC variety program 'Love War' aired on the 19th, a dancer couple in their 30s who are living together appeared to share the conflicts they faced during their relationship. Their troubles began when the boyfriend, who had promised marriage, changed his attitude after being discharged from military service. While he had actively brought up marriage during his service, his thoughts on the matter changed after his discharge due to various circumstances.
The cast members held differing opinions on the matter. Lee Hyo-ri expressed regret over the reversal of the marriage promise but suggested it might be better than pushing for marriage recklessly when one is not realistically prepared. She viewed it from the perspective that since marriage is difficult to decide based on emotion alone, it is necessary to examine whether one is actually in a position to take responsibility.
On the other hand, Seo Jang-hoon viewed the issue from the girlfriend's perspective. He pointed out that if a man's attitude changes suddenly after a woman has believed his words and prepared seriously for marriage, she would have no choice but to feel bewildered. He implied that because a promise of marriage can be an expression of trust to share a future with a partner, one must be cautious from the moment the words are spoken.
As the conversation continued, Lee Hyo-ri empathized with the romantic feelings of youth, stating, "At that age, isn't it thrilling to bring up marriage while dating?" Dayoung then responded as if waiting for the moment, saying, "I've already had four divorces." This was not a confession of actual divorce experience, but an exaggerated joke twisting the conversation surrounding dating and marriage.
However, after making the joke, Dayoung looked to Seo Jang-hoon and apologized, saying, "I'm sorry." It appeared she judged that her words might have been inappropriate in front of Seo Jang-hoon, who has experience with divorce. Lee Hyo-ri also immediately settled the situation by warning, "Watch your words."
In response, Seo Jang-hoon bit back with a bitter remark, "It would be even stranger if I didn't find that apologetic." While his reaction was to not take Dayoung's apology too heavily, the laughter grew as the remark and apology followed one after another. The moment saw Dayoung's wit, Lee Hyo-ri's firm intervention, and Seo Jang-hoon's calm reaction converge in a short interval.
The broadcast, which began with serious concerns regarding marriage, saw the atmosphere shift due to Dayoung's unexpected joke. Although it was an exaggerated expression for the sake of laughter, attention was drawn to the cast's reactions as the topics involved personal experiences and emotions like marriage and divorce.
