Gummy skips wedding and first birthday party, hosts singer-filled birthday bash instead
Singer Gummy revealed that she skipped both her wedding to actor Cho Jung-seok and her daughter's first birthday celebration, opting instead to host a special birthday party for fellow singers.

Singer Gummy revealed that following her decision not to hold a wedding with actor Cho Jung-seok, she also did not hold a separate first birthday party for her daughter. Instead, she hosted a special party to celebrate her own birthday, inviting fellow singers she had not seen for a long time. As the singers took turns grabbing the microphone, the gathering turned into an impromptu concert venue, featuring appearances by G-DRAGON and ZICO, leading colleagues to even nickname the event "Geojeol," short for "Gummy's Holiday."
Gummy shared stories regarding her past birthday parties in the video "8N-born with broken tension," which was released on February 2nd on the YouTube channel 'Zzanbro Shin Dong-yup.' Performing an impromptu song while intoxicated that day, she expressed her feelings about the stage, saying, "It has been truly, truly a long time since I've sung while drinking."
Listening to this, Gaeko of Dynamic Duo recalled Gummy's birthday parties, stating, "I remember you used to do a lot on your birthdays." Gummy laughed, noting how much her life has changed since then, saying, "Back then, there was no tomorrow," and added that her daily life is now centered around parenting, noting, "Now I have to send my child to kindergarten." Unlike the days of singing and playing all night, she has become a mother who must now take care of her child's school attendance.
Mentioning her married life with Cho Jung-seok, Gummy revealed that they skipped both the wedding and the child's first birthday party. "Our couple didn't have a wedding, and we've never had a celebration like a baby's first birthday party," she confessed, adding, "I felt sorry because I kept telling acquaintances, 'Let's meet once, let's meet once,' but I couldn't meet them." She explained that instead of celebrating major life milestones like marriage and childbirth with separate events, she wanted to arrange occasions where she could be with those close to her.
After much thought, the method Gummy came up with was to use her birthday as an excuse to gather acquaintances in one place. She recalled, "I took courage and used my birthday as an excuse to arrange a gathering once." While it started as a simple birthday celebration, the atmosphere naturally shifted into a music festival since most of the attendees were singers.
Choiza vividly described the excitement of the time. He said that because so many singers gathered, once Gummy started singing, others were inspired to grab the microphone, and they were so eager to sing that they wouldn't let go of the mics. While the gathering of fellow singers was special in itself, it was even more interesting that performances usually seen on stage continued in a private space.
Gaeko joked about the memory of singing BIGBANG's 'BANG BANG BANG' in front of G-DRAGON, saying, "Do you remember us singing 'BANG BANG BANG' in front of GD? It's still embarrassing to think about now." Even though they were passionately singing songs by other artists, the story noted that no one at the scene cared about appearances and simply enjoyed the atmosphere.
ZICO's performance was also noteworthy. Gaeko recalled that at the time, ZICO performed his song 'Any Song' while perfectly executing the choreography from beginning to end. He essentially reproduced the performance seen on stage at the birthday party. As the singers gathered to celebrate Gummy's birthday took turns with the microphone, the party naturally transformed into an impromptu concert by colleagues.
The gathering even earned a special name among the attendees. Gummy said, "The younger ones even gave it a name, saying they wanted me to have my birthday party again." They gave it the name "Geojeol," which is short for "Gummy's Holiday," comparing it to special annual occasions like Easter or Christmas. It carries the meaning of a day when colleagues gather to sing and enjoy, triggered by Gummy's birthday.
Upon hearing the story, host Jeong Ho-cheol took out his mobile phone and asked, "Noona, when and where did you say?" expressing an immediate intention to attend. Shin Dong-yup countered, "It's February 29th. There isn't one this year, and there won't be one next year either." By referring to Leap Day, which occurs once every four years, as if it were the date of Gummy's birthday party, he instantly deflated Jeong Ho-cheol's expectations. Instead of a wedding or a first birthday party, the special festival "Geojeol" created by fellow singers provided laughter, showcasing Gummy's unique connections and the joyful social bonding of musicians.
