Hong Ji-yeon admits to nose surgery during 'Transfer Dating 4'
Hong Ji-yeon addresses appearance rumors from 'Transfer Dating 4,' revealing she underwent nose surgery just months before filming.
Hong Ji-yeon, a participant in the TVING dating reality show 'Transfer Dating 4,' has candidly revealed that she had already undergone nose surgery during her time on the program. Addressing observations that her face looks different now compared to her appearance on the show, she provided a detailed explanation regarding the surgery, the timing, and the recovery process, effectively resolving long-standing curiosity about her changing appearance.

In a video uploaded to her YouTube channel 'Ji-yeon if it's Ji-yeon' on the 27th, Hong addressed the nose surgery questions that had been focused on her by fans, stating, “It is a fake nose.” She added, “I was already in the state of having had nose surgery when I appeared on ‘Transfer Dating 4,’” while drawing a clear line against rumors of revision surgery by stating, “I didn't have revision surgery. I had nose surgery only once.”
Regarding why her nose shape looks different now compared to when she was on the show, she cited the lingering swelling following the surgery. Hong explained, “When I was filming the show, it had only been four months since my nose surgery,” and “The reason you feel the nose in the broadcast and my nose now look a bit different is because of the swelling.”
In particular, she revealed that most of the photos used to show her relationship with her ex-partner on ‘Transfer Dating 4’ were taken before the surgery. Hong stated, “I broke up with Kim Woo-jin not long after my nose surgery,” and “The photos I submitted in the X-room during the broadcast were likely all from before the nose surgery.”
She confessed that immediately after the surgery, she experienced such severe swelling that even she found it difficult to accept the results. She shared her feelings at the time, saying, “I took off the splint after the nose surgery and cried so much at home,” and “The swelling was truly so severe. I thought it was a medical accident.”
She recalled, “I'm not lying, it felt like the nose occupied more than one-ninth of my face,” and “Even when I looked up reviews, no one had swelling as severe as mine. I cried so much while looking them up every night.” This explains that she faced significant anxiety regarding the surgical results and worries about the speed of her recovery.
Hong also mentioned that at the time of her broadcast appearance, she didn't worry much because she thought the swelling had subsided sufficiently. However, compared to her current appearance, she was still in the middle of the recovery process back then. She said, “I didn't worry much because I thought all the swelling was gone when I appeared on the show,” and “Although only the nose is visible in the broadcast, it looked like a human nose. The swelling had subsided a lot.”
Her ex-partner, Kim Woo-jin, also remembered the situation at the time. In the video, Kim stated, “She became so pretty after the nose surgery. Since she became pretty, I feel good too,” and revealed that he repeatedly told her, “It's just swelling,” to soothe Hong's anxiety.
This confession aligns with how the appearance changes of dating show participants are consumed online. Amidst repeated instances of people speculating about plastic surgery by comparing photos from the time of broadcast with current appearances, Hong chose to directly disclose her experience instead of engaging in speculation or vague explanations. In particular, by revealing not just the fact of the surgery but also the extreme swelling and psychological anxiety she felt at the time, she shared a story that goes beyond simple changes in appearance.
Due to the format of ‘Transfer Dating 4,’ which crosses past romances and present emotions of the participants, it is a program where past photos and current appearances are naturally compared. Hong also drew attention to her changing appearance as her pre- and post-surgery looks were exposed during the broadcasting process.
Ultimately, the core of what Hong revealed is not just the fact that her nose was 'fake' during the broadcast, but that the timing was only four months after the surgery. The explanation is that the difference between her current appearance and the past broadcast footage was influenced by the degree of swelling during the recovery process, rather than revision surgery.
In a situation where speculations surrounding her plastic surgery continued, Hong did not hide it or express it indirectly, but clearly stated, “I had nose surgery only once.” At the same time, by disclosing the anxiety immediately after the surgery and the recovery process, she shifted the online interest surrounding her appearance into a story about her personal experience.
