Actor Hwang Jung-min has revealed a significantly thinner appearance as he prepares to return to the stage in the musical Mrs. Doubtfire, following a period of controversy involving a stalking allegation. Appearing with a noticeably slimmer face, Hwang responded to comments from those around him suggesting he had gained weight by clarifying, "No, I lost more weight."
On the 7th, a video titled "What happened at the Mrs. Doubtfire meeting (+ surprise camera)" was released on the YouTube channel 'Jung Sang-hoon, Abnormal Hoon'. Jung Sang-hoon visited the meeting for the musical Mrs. Doubtfire, which is set to open this December, to capture the important moment when the actors and production staff gather before a performance.
Jung Sang-hoon explained the meeting, stating, "The actors and staff gather to discuss what kind of performance they will do and have time for a reading. It is an important occasion." In the actual practice room, numerous actors and staff participating in the production were gathered to prepare for the work. Attention from the camera naturally focused on the lead actor, Hwang Jung-min, as he appeared.
Hwang Jung-min drew attention with a face that appeared much slimmer than before. Seeing this, Jung Sang-hoon offered a warm greeting and remarked, "It looks like you've gained a little weight." However, Hwang immediately replied, "No, I lost more weight." Despite others perceiving him as having gained weight, he explained that his actual weight had decreased. His thin appearance, which made his facial contours stand out, led to further curiosity regarding his current condition.
Hwang later offered support for Jung Sang-hoon's YouTube activities. He cheered for his colleague's channel, shouting, "I heard you're doing YouTube? Jung Sang-hoon, Abnormal Hoon, fighting!" Hwang's appearance, revealed for the first time in a while, conveyed both his daily life as an actor preparing for a show and warm encouragement for his colleague.
Hwang Jung-min was embroiled in controversy in July following private life revelations by a woman in her 40s, referred to as Person A, whom he knew as a fan. While Person A claimed to have had a private relationship with Hwang Jung-min, his agency denied this, counter-arguing that Person A is a suspect in a stalking crime who has been continuously harassing him. The agency has taken legal action by suing Person A for violations of the Stalking Punishment Act and other charges.
Subsequently, Person A was sentenced to a fine of 6 million won in the first trial, and a second trial is expected to proceed as she appealed the ruling. Hwang has also filed additional lawsuits against Person A citing the leakage of personal information. Person A also filed a damages claim of approximately 200 million won against Hwang Jung-min this past February, meaning the legal dispute between the two sides continues.
Following these controversies, Hwang Jung-min is preparing for his return to the stage through the musical Mrs. Doubtfire. Ahead of the production opening in December, the actors and staff have begun full preparations for the work through meetings and readings. With the release of the Netflix film Mission: Cross 2 also approaching, attention is focused on Hwang Jung-min's future activities in both musicals and film.
