Former racing model Ji Yeon-soo shared her struggle of being unable to rest due to financial responsibilities for her son, despite suffering from severe physical ailments including torn muscles.
Former racing model Ji Yeon-soo revealed on YouTube that she must continue working despite having torn arm muscles and multiple physical abnormalities to support her son, Min-su, alone. Following her 2020 divorce from U-KISS member Eli, Ji has faced the necessity of seeking part-time work to maintain her livelihood.
Former racing model Ji Yeon-soo has revealed that her health has deteriorated to the point of physical abnormalities, yet she finds herself unable to stop working to maintain her livelihood. Despite receiving a diagnosis that she must rest due to torn arm muscles, she sought part-time work, expressing her desperation by asking, "What could I possibly rely on to take a rest?" The situation has drawn sympathy as she faces the reality of having to support herself while raising her son alone.
On the 19th, a video titled "Achieving the highest sales in Shopping Live thanks to subscribers! I love you, Min-su" was released on the YouTube channel 'Ji Yeon-soo's Yeonsuroopda.' During the video, Ji shared updates on her current status as she undergoes manual therapy, stating that her physical condition has worsened due to working continuously without rest for a long time.
When the production team asked if she was experiencing issues beyond her shoulder injury, Ji replied, "Even my legs have adhesions. My legs, my neck, and my waist too." She added, "Because I have been working without rest for several years, my body could not hold up," noting that she believes many people might feel the same. While discomfort continues across multiple parts of her body, she finds it difficult to step away from work immediately.
The production team expressed concern, suggesting she should prioritize her health and consider resting. When they voiced worry over her finding another part-time job, she countered, "But how can I rest? What could I possibly rely on to take a rest?" This highlighted the reality of being unable to stop working for the sake of her livelihood, even while knowing that treatment and rest are necessary.
Ji previously revealed that she worked at a gomtang (beef bone soup) restaurant to earn living expenses and child support for her son, Min-su. She worked there while hiding her identity as a broadcaster, but was ultimately forced to quit due to an injury to her right arm. She shared that while she initially only received physical therapy for the persistent pain, a proper medical examination later revealed that her muscles were all torn and she should not be working.
She also disclosed that it has been a long time since her last medical checkup. Ji mentioned that while she remembers receiving checkups for work during her time as a model, she cannot recall exactly when she last had one. The production team advised her to undergo a health checkup first. While there is a need to identify and manage the abnormalities in her body, the reality of managing her immediate livelihood remains the priority.
On this day, Ji also recalled her past activities as a racing model ahead of her first home shopping live broadcast. When asked if she felt nervous, she replied, "I'm not nervous, but I'm hungry," adding, "It has become a habit not to eat when I work." This indicates that her busy schedule has led to a habit of failing to eat properly meals.
She recalled that while team contracts usually meant participating in only one race, she would contract for four races, visiting the circuit every Sunday. Because of this, she was featured in articles titled "The racing model with the most appearances." She also remembered the warm consideration of the fans who came to cheer for her. She explained that fans would send chicken and snacks to her because she worked hungry from the morning, and they would even avoid photo shoots for about an hour immediately after she had eaten lunch.
Ji married Eli, a member of the group U-KISS, in 2014 and had her son, Min-su, in 2016. The two divorced in 2020, and Ji is currently raising her son alone. Having once moved through racing circuits more busily than anyone, she is now in a position where she must care for her health while working to support her livelihood and child-rearing. Her short question, "How can I rest?" contains the realistic burden of being unable to stop despite knowing the necessity of rest.
