Jung Da Eun reveals family legacy of leading textile factory
Broadcaster Jung Da Eun shares how her grandfather's once-leading textile factory inspired her new clothing brand and mission to preserve his craftsmanship.
"I feel like I am continuing the work my grandfather used to do."

Broadcaster Jung Da Eun has shared a special story about her family background nine years after her marriage. It turns out she is the granddaughter of a man who founded a fabric factory that once competed for the top two spots in the domestic textile industry. Her family history, which she had not previously disclosed on broadcasts, came to light after she launched her own clothing brand.
On the 27th, Jung released a video titled 'The Story of a Fabric Factory Granddaughter' on her SNS to introduce her grandfather's past. "My grandfather started at a dressmaker's shop, making school uniforms at the time, and then joined as an early member of P Textile," she said. "He created a golden age and even established a fabric factory."
According to Jung, her grandfather spent his entire life working with clothing. However, he passed away when she was in her 20s, and the family history she did not personally witness was gradually passed down to her through her father. In particular, once Jung started her own clothing brand, her father began sharing these stories with her.
She also revealed a surprising detail: "The wool factory he established once competed for first or second place in the industry, but as the textile industry declined and my grandfather passed away, the scale was reduced until it found a new owner." Her father eventually sold the factory this year, meaning the facility that was once the center of the family has now become a part of history.
Yet, traces of that factory remain a living part of Jung's life. "The year I started my clothing brand, my father told me that I reminded him of my grandfather," she said. "He said my grandfather, who spent his life in the clothing industry, sometimes had a 'bulldozer' personality, and that I am the same." This suggests that her passion for fashion is rooted in her family DNA.
Jung expressed her intention to carry on the "craftsmanship" inherited from that factory. She said she sees her grandfather's spirit in business partners who refuse to compromise on quality after 30 years, factory owners who cherish their products, and young entrepreneurs working with pride to carry on family legacies.
Married to Jo Woo Jong in 2017 and having a daughter, Jung has been active as a broadcaster since leaving KBS in 2023. Now that she has launched a clothing brand under her own name, she said, "The factory is gone, but I will carry on that sincerity. I will do so with the feeling that I am walking alongside my grandfather." Jung's new challenge to preserve her family's spirit through her own way is drawing attention.
