Kim Jung-nan reveals six-month struggle following thyroid cancer surgery
Actress Kim Jung-nan shared the difficult six-month recovery period she endured following surgery for thyroid cancer, which was detected in its early stages.
Actress Kim Jung-nan revealed during a recent YouTube video that she endured a difficult six-month recovery period after undergoing surgery for thyroid cancer earlier this year. Although the cancer was detected early and treated without chemotherapy, Kim noted that she only began feeling better after the six-month mark.
Actress Kim Jung-nan has opened up about the difficult time she experienced following surgery for thyroid cancer. Although the cancer was detected early, allowing her to undergo surgery without chemotherapy, the recovery process was by no means smooth. Her confession regarding the pain that lasted for six months after the surgery has drawn concerned looks from those around her.
A YouTube video released on the 19th captured Kim Jung-nan's daily life during a visit to Jeonju Hanok Village. During the visit, Kim Jung-nan spent a modest time conversing with Kim Hye-mi-ja, a master of traditional Korean paper crafts. Following their greeting, Kim Hye-mi-ja examined Kim Jung-nan's face and expressed concern for her health, noting that she appeared thin.
Kim Jung-nan responded that it might be because she had lost some weight. However, after Kim Hye-mi-ja cautiously asked about surgery while touching the area near her neck, Kim Jung-nan candidly revealed that she had undergone surgery for thyroid cancer. It was a moment where the health struggles she had been facing were revealed, contrasting with the bright image she usually presents on broadcasts.
“It was hard, but now that six months have passed, I think I am feeling a little better,” Kim Jung-nan confessed, adding, “It was quite difficult up until the six-month mark.” Her brief words captured the time she had to endure to recover after the surgery. Regardless of the fact that the cancer was detected early and treated, it took a significant amount of time for her body to return to a normal state.
Upon hearing Kim Jung-nan's story, Kim Hye-mi-ja expressed regret, saying, “That could have been a major problem.” She then shared warmth by personally preparing various side dishes for her. The heartwarming meeting drew attention as the conversation, which began with concerns for her health, led to the sharing of sincere food.
Kim Jung-nan previously disclosed her battle with thyroid cancer on the MBC entertainment program 'Radio Star' this past September. She stated that she discovered the thyroid cancer early this year and underwent surgery without chemotherapy. While it was reported at the time that the cancer was detected and treated early, the specific difficulties she faced during the post-surgical recovery process have now been revealed.
While detecting cancer early and receiving appropriate treatment is important, the recovery process does not conclude immediately once surgery is finished. Kim Jung-nan's confession demonstrates that it is difficult to judge one's health status based solely on outward appearances. Having belatedly shared the story behind her thin face, she is now reporting that she is gradually recovering, receiving both concern and support from fans.
