I Am SOLO's Young-ja shares monologue acting video for upcoming exhibition
Young-ja, a participant from the 25th season of 'I Am SOLO', has shared a video of her monologue acting as she prepares for an upcoming exhibition. This move comes after she faced controversy regarding her agency contract and recently announced a name change.
Following a recent name change, "I Am SOLO" participant Young-ja has released a video of her monologue acting in preparation for the "Deviation" exhibition, which will feature 100 videos at a gallery in Gangnam District, Seoul, from the 23rd to the 29th.
Young-ja, a participant from the 25th season of "I Am SOLO," has embarked on a new challenge by releasing a monologue acting video following her recent name change. After facing controversy regarding her agency contract following her television appearance, she appeared before the camera immersed in emotional acting, appearing to hold back tears. Having confessed to once harboring dreams of becoming an actress, Young-ja also shared her honest feelings regarding the passion and skill of professional actors.
Recently, Young-ja posted a video on her social media with the caption, "D-3 for the IAC Monologue Exhibition. I felt very small among the wonderful and passionate experienced actors, but I was able to learn and feel many things." The video captures her practicing monologues in various locations, including reciting lines in a room and building up emotions inside a vehicle, with her focused acting and tearful expressions drawing attention.
The video is reported to be part of the preparation for "Deviation," a monologue video exhibition in which Young-ja is participating. This exhibition, which features 100 monologue videos from actors, will be held from the 23rd to the 29th at a gallery in Gangnam District, Seoul. Appearing before the camera with a different side than what was shown on broadcast, Young-ja appears to have experienced both the charm of acting and the realistic barriers through this experience.
Young-ja explained that while she was going through a difficult time following her broadcast appearance, she reconnected with a director she met through a previous cameo appearance, which led her to participate in making classes and encounter acting. Although the experience began out of simple curiosity, she stated that the classes led her to view acting seriously. As she continues her activities following her announcement of a name change, interest is gathering regarding her future steps as she reveals this acting challenge.
She stated, "When I started making, I honestly wondered, 'What if I could become a really wonderful actor?'" However, she confessed that she could not view the path of an actor lightly based on passion alone. She explained that by watching actors who commit their whole hearts to acting from up close, she realized that the vague dream she held was a desperate goal that others had worked toward for a long time.
Young-ja honestly confessed, "I felt small in the face of that passion and skill." This statement, released alongside her efforts to express emotion in the video, shows that she is treating this challenge as an experience beyond a mere hobby. At the same time, it is interpreted that she felt the gap between the longing for the profession of an actor and the reality she faced in the field.
However, she has not completely given up on her dream of acting. "Once the exhibition is over, I will probably return to my daily life, but I don't think I will be able to forget the experiences, lessons, and memories shared for a long time," Young-ja said, adding, "If I find some leeway within myself someday, I want to try again." Rather than officially announcing an acting debut immediately, she has indicated her intention to cherish this experience as a precious lesson and try again if given the opportunity.
Young-ja gained recognition through her appearance in the 25th season of ENA and SBS Plus's "I Am SOLO" and subsequently appeared in "I Am SOLO, Love Continues." However, she became embroiled in a controversy regarding a breach of contract when it was revealed that she had signed a contract with a creator's agency before the broadcast ended. The production team restricted Young-ja's solo reactions and live broadcast appearances due to this.
At the time, Young-ja explained that she considered the agency contract an extension of her personal activities to continue her drawing work and content activities. She apologized, stating, "I am taking it heavily that it could be perceived as a situation where the sincerity of the broadcast could be doubted." As she moves into the new field of acting following the controversy, explanation, and name change, attention is focused on what direction this challenge will lead to in the future.
