Kim Min-jung Takes a Break from 36-Year Acting Career Started as a Child Actor

Actress Kim Min-jung (43) revealed her recent status on the 28th while traveling in a car. She appeared different from her usual self with a short-cut hairstyle.

She announced that she is currently taking a break, pausing her acting career that has continued for 36 years. Reflecting on her journey, she said, “Stepping away from my profession, which I have done without stopping for 36 years. Looking back, there wasn't a single moment where I fully chose it for myself. Because the situation was like this, because I had to be an actress, because those with me spoke this way—it has been over 10 years since I decided to look at my life, which was filled with being seen and evaluated. As I gradually widen the distance from this profession that has been my true self and my life since I was just a child, things are finally becoming clearly visible."

She continued, suggesting she has reached a realization: “I wonder how my awareness could have been so lacking? But there is a double-edged sword in becoming accustomed to familiar things and habits. You all should live your own lives. No one can replace my lifetime. Good luck!”

She made her debut in 1990 with the MBC drama 'Best Theater - Widow.' Since then, she has appeared in works such as 'Island,' 'Fashion 70s,' 'New Heart,' and 'Gap-dong.' She received much love for her role as Kudo Hina in 'Mr. Sunshine.'

Last year, she made a special appearance in the Channel A drama 'Check in Hanyang.' She has also been active in variety programs such as '2016 Tasty Road,' 'Kim Min-jung's Beauty Crush,' and 'Snail Hotel.'
