Lee Hye-young's Stepdaughter Breaks Down Seeing Her Weakened After Lung Cancer Surgery

On the 25th, on the YouTube channel 'Hye-young is Unstoppable,' actress and painter Lee Hye-young met her stepdaughter, who held back tears while remembering the time her mother was battling lung cancer.

Lee Hye-young and her daughter met in LA. The two shared a warm conversation like long-time friends. The daughter introduced herself, saying, "I currently live in New York, but I came to LA to see my family. I am 26 years old, and I was working at a Michelin-starred Korean cuisine restaurant, but I am currently resting due to a severe neck disc issue."

When the production team asked about her feelings when she was diagnosed with lung cancer, she said, "I was in New York at the time, and I found out when my father called me," noting that she tried to remain calm at the time. She maturely thought that continuing her daily life as usual would help ease the burden on her parents, who were going through a difficult time.

Expressing her apologies to Lee Hye-young, the daughter said, "I met her after her surgery, and so many things had changed. In the past, we used to go to the sea together and wander around all day, but it broke my heart that she couldn't do that anymore. Even though I knew Mom was struggling because she was sick, I think I expressed it through irritation. I felt like, 'Is Mom too tired to do it again?' and I was just disappointed."

Lee Hye-young expressed her pride in her daughter, saying, "I feel a great sense of guilt for being sick. There was a time when my daughter needed her mother, but I couldn't visit New York often. Still, I am thankful that she has lived so confidently and well on her own in New York."

Lee Hye-young married singer Lee Sang-min in 2004 but divorced the following year. In 2011, she remarried a financial businessman and adopted his daughter from his previous marriage. In 2021, she was diagnosed with lung cancer and underwent major surgery to remove part of her lung.
