Nam Bora, eldest of 13 siblings, shares parenting wisdom

Nam Bora, the actress famous for being the "eldest of 13 siblings," has gained another sibling. Participating in parenting content as the "new sister-in-law" to a PD preparing for marriage, Nam Bora joked that she doesn't feel much excitement about a new family member because she already has so many siblings, yet she offered realistic advice drawn from her own recent parenting experiences.

On the 1st, a video titled "Showing the Reality of Pregnancy, Childbirth, and Childcare to a PD Preparing for Marriage" was released on the YouTube channel "STUDIO OMG." In the video, Nam Bora took on the role of the new sister-in-law to a PD scheduled to marry next March, teaching the future family member the realities of pregnancy, childbirth, and childcare.

When the production team asked, "How does it feel?", Nam Bora joked, "I have so many siblings that even if one more is added, I don't feel much excitement."

Having grown up as the eldest daughter of a large family, she expressed through laughter that while having a new sibling might be special to others, it is a familiar occurrence to her.

Regarding questions about her childcare experience, she provided more realistic answers. When the PD, playing the role of the sibling, asked, "Is looking after a sibling very different from looking after a baby?", Nam Bora replied, "It is completely different. I realized I wasn't just looking after a sibling. It wasn't easy to be solely in charge of a baby."

Nam Bora has also been candidly sharing the difficulties of being a novice parent through her recent experiences. On her personal channel on the 24th of last month, she revealed her flustered reaction when her baby burst into tears and even urinated while she was changing his diaper for the first time. She comforted her clumsy self, saying, "It's because Mom is a complete beginner."

After continuing breastfeeding until past 1 AM, she spent her first night in a daze and swapped duties the next day with her husband, who had looked after the baby all night. When her husband mentioned Nam Bora's experience caring for her siblings, she explained, "Back then, if the baby cried, we could just ignore them and sleep. Mom or Dad would get up and feed them."

At this, her husband expressed astonishment, saying, "You did that for 13 people? If it was 100 days for each of the 13, wouldn't that be 1,300 days?"

While it is an incredible amount of childcare experience when looking only at the numbers, Nam Bora emphasized the clear difference between looking after siblings and being responsible for every aspect of a single child's life as a parent.

Nam Bora's family history has been revealed to the public over a long period. She first made a name for herself appearing as the eldest of 11 siblings on MBC's "Sunday Sunday Night" before her debut, and was introduced as the eldest of 12 siblings on KBS's "Screening Humanity" in 2008. Later, with the birth of a younger brother, her current title of "eldest of 13 siblings" was formed.

The experience of growing up while revealing the daily life of a large family became a unique background for her career as an actress. Nam Bora has steadily expanded her acting range beyond the image of a child or youth actress, appearing in films such as "Sunny" and dramas like "Moon Embracing the Sun," "Shark," "My Twinkle Twinkle," and "Hyoseom's Life."

Nam Bora, who married a businessman of the same age last May, welcomed her first son on June 15 this year. For her, who had cared for numerous siblings as the eldest of a large family, becoming a parent and directly taking responsibility for a child's life is a completely different experience.
