Nam Bo-ra, Two Weeks After Giving Birth: “My Face Is Covered in Melasma, and I Gained 14 kg”
Actor Nam Bo-ra opened up about postpartum skin changes, weight gain, breastfeeding, C-section pain and recovery after welcoming her first son.
Actor Nam Bo-ra has spoken candidly about the physical changes she has experienced after giving birth to her first child, sharing a grounded look at the postpartum recovery process and the practical concerns many women face immediately after delivery.

In a video released on July 1 on the YouTube channel “Nam Bo-ra’s Life Theater,” viewers followed Nam Bo-ra as she left the hospital and headed to a postpartum care center. The video, titled “The Beginning of Jocance. First Rooming-In with Baby, Breastfeeding, Kongal, Let’s Get Along Well,” showed her daily life after discharge and included a detailed account of how her body was feeling after childbirth and how she planned to recover.
“Today is finally the day I’m discharged,” Nam Bo-ra said, showing her excitement before talking about the visible changes in her skin after giving birth. “People say melasma appears during pregnancy, but in my case, I think I got more of it after delivery,” she said. “My skin overall has also become much duller.” By showing her skin directly on camera, she frankly acknowledged that postpartum hormonal changes had affected her appearance in noticeable ways.
She then shared the recovery plan she intends to begin in earnest. “Now that the baby has come out of my belly, I think I need to start restoring myself too,” Nam Bo-ra said. “I’m going to start exercising and taking care of my skin one step at a time.” Speaking specifically about pigmentation care, she added that she had heard it is important to manage melasma within six months after childbirth, and said she planned to take an active approach.
Through on-screen captions, Nam Bo-ra also explained that although she wanted to begin her postpartum recovery, her whole body had changed so much that she did not know where to start. She added that she planned to recover gradually by proceeding with exercise, skin care and other steps without pushing herself too hard. She set her recovery target at about three months.
Nam Bo-ra did not hide the change in her weight either. After receiving a postpartum massage, she stepped onto a scale and was visibly surprised when it showed 58.5 kg. “I weighed myself in the morning and was really shocked,” she said. “I naturally thought I would be around 55 kg, but it came out as 59 kg.” Since her pre-pregnancy weight had been around 45 kg, she admitted that she was quite taken aback by the roughly 14 kg increase that came with pregnancy and childbirth.
At the same time, she said she could feel physical changes after beginning breastfeeding. “I definitely feel like my belly is going down quickly because I’m breastfeeding,” Nam Bo-ra explained. Even so, she emphasized that postpartum recovery was far from easy, saying, “Now that the pain from the Cesarean section has eased a little, my breasts hurt because of engorgement.”
When she reunited with her son in the newborn room, Nam Bo-ra could not hide her happy smile. After a nurse praised the baby, saying his eyes, nose and mouth were clear and that he had a lot of hair, Nam Bo-ra looked pleased and said, “He’s already grown this much.” Her warm gaze toward her first child showed both the excitement and affection of a new mother.
Nam Bo-ra first became known to the public through “Human Theater” as the eldest daughter in a family of 13 siblings, and she has continued to work steadily as an actor since then. She married a same-age businessman last year, welcomed her first son on June 15, and is now sharing her daily life with fans while balancing postpartum care and parenting.
