KBS 2TV's new Saturday-Sunday mini-series 'The Completion of Marriage' has signaled a full-scale tension in its narrative by placing the cracks in the relationship of the protagonist couple at the forefront. The work is set to unfold by combining the power asymmetry and emotional disconnection within a marriage with the crime thriller genre.

In the still cuts released by the production team on the 2nd, Kang Tae-joo (played by Namkoong Min) and Ko Se-yoon (played by Lee Seol), who are set as a married couple in the drama, are captured attending a public event together. Although the scene is set in a public space—a medical institution event—it is directed with a composition that clearly reveals the psychological distance between the two characters.

In the drama, despite attending the event as a neurosurgeon, Kang Tae-joo reveals a state of emotional disconnection by minimizing interaction with his spouse, Ko Se-yoon, and keeping his eyes fixed on his mobile phone. In contrast, Ko Se-yoon is depicted in stark contrast, maintaining a state of tension as she closely watches her husband's behavior amidst the presence of outsiders and officials.

This asymmetrical attitude functions as a device to visually implement the power structure and emotional imbalance within the relationship, going beyond simple marital conflict. In particular, the extreme state of non-contact within the same space is interpreted as a directorial device that symbolically reveals the deepening pattern of relational disconnection.

In a scene released later, a sudden shift in the narrative is foreshadowed as Kang Tae-joo is captured abruptly leaving his seat during a presentation by his father-in-law, Ko Dong-chan (played by Jang Gwang). This action is an event that temporarily collapses the normative order of behavior in a public setting, with the reactions of surrounding characters also represented by bewilderment and silence.

The production team explained that this scene visualizes how the cracks in the relationship between the characters have already deepened to the point of crossing the boundaries of social norms. In other words, there is an intention to maximize narrative tension through the moment personal conflict is expressed in a public space.

Meanwhile, 'The Completion of Marriage' is a crime thriller centered on the process where a couple on the verge of divorce faces each other again through an extreme external crisis—a kidnapping incident—and uses the intersection of relationship collapse and survival narrative as its core axis.
