Park Bo-gum recalls 'Love in the Moonlight' memories with Kim You-jung

Actor Park Bo-gum has revisited memories of the filming set ahead of the 10th anniversary of the drama 'Love in the Moonlight.' He shared nostalgic glimpses of the production from 10 years ago, ranging from his portrayal of Crown Prince Lee Young to behind-the-scenes shots with Kim You-jung and Kwak Dong-yeon.

On the 22nd, Park released several photos via his SNS capturing his time filming the KBS2 drama 'Love in the Moonlight.'

In the photos, Park is seen smiling brightly against a natural landscape, dressed in the exact costume of Crown Prince Lee Young. His neat *hanbok* attire, refreshing expression, and playful poses evoke his character from the production 10 years ago.

In particular, a photo taken with Kim You-jung, who played the cross-dressing eunuch Hong Ra-on, drew significant attention. The two sat side-by-side against a backdrop of flowers, showing a comfortable and cheerful atmosphere—distinct from the romance in the drama—by posing with their hands under their chins and winking.

An even more playful side was captured in a photo with Kwak Dong-yeon, who played the royal guard Kim Byeong-yeon. While he was a character who silently guarded the Crown Prince within the drama, the photo clearly revealed the close relationship between the fellow actors as they hung out naturally off-set.

'Love in the Moonlight' is one of the representative works that decisively expanded Park's stardom when it aired in 2016. Based on a web novel of the same name, the series depicted the palace romance between Crown Prince Lee Young and the cross-dressing eunuch Hong Ra-on, alongside themes of youthful growth and palace power struggles.

At the time, Park built the Crown Prince character in his own unique way by adding sly comedy and romantic acting to the upright and kind image he had previously shown. Kim also displayed seamless chemistry with Park as she navigated the role of Hong Ra-on through both cross-dressing and romance.

The production maintained massive popularity, recording a peak viewership rating of 23.3% during its broadcast. The chemistry between the two leads acted as a core driving force for the work's success as the relationship between Lee Young and Ra-on developed.

Although 10 years have passed since the original broadcast, the bond between the actors and the memories of the work remain strong. To celebrate, KBS2 is scheduled to broadcast a two-part special variety show titled 'Love in the Moonlight Re-drawn' on September 16.

The special will feature Park Bo-gum, Kim You-jung, Jinyoung, Chae Soo-bin, and Kwak Dong-yeon, capturing them traveling together for 2 Days & 1 Night in Gangwon-do. Beyond a simple retrospective, the reunion of these young actors after a decade is expected to be a story in itself.

The actors who portrayed youthful love against a palace backdrop 10 years ago are now gathering again after growing in their respective careers. The photos of his days as the Crown Prince released by Park serve as more than mere archival material; they remind viewers of the lasting impact a single work leaves on both actors and fans.
