Sung Dong-il Says His Dream Is to Share a Drink With Son Sung Jun, Who Holds Two Patents

Actor Sung Dong-il and his son Sung Jun are set to appear on the YouTube channel "Sul Bitneun Yoon Jumo" on June 12, bringing together a father and son whose relationship many viewers first came to know through television.

Yoon Jumo, chef Yoon Na-ra, warmly welcomes the two guests by recalling how audiences once adored Sung Jun as a child on the program "Dad! Where Are We Going?" She says it is moving to see that young boy now grown into a college student and coming to Yoonjudang to have a drink with his father.

Sung Dong-il shares an unexpected detail about life at home, saying that his family does not have a television. Because of that, he says he has never watched "Black and White Chef," and even when he appeared on "Dad! Where Are We Going?" with his children, he did not watch the broadcasts. Sung Jun also says he has not watched the show, adding that these days his father sometimes shows it to him. Sung Dong-il explains that when old memories come back, he watches clips on YouTube.

During the visit, Sung Dong-il says that one of his dreams was to have a drink with Sung Jun. After tasting Yoon Jumo's welcome drink, he responds with clear satisfaction, calling it exactly the kind of drink that could win someone over and praising its aroma and flavor. Yoon Jumo also lightly teases Sung Jun by asking whether he has a girlfriend and saying she would give him several bottles of alcohol.

The conversation then turns to Sung Jun's studies. Now a second-year student in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Hanyang University, Sung Jun is revealed to hold two patents. He explains that he filed one patent with a teacher when he was in middle school, and later, after entering a science high school, he participated in a competition with friends and filed another patent. The explanation raises curiosity about what the patents are for.

Sung Dong-il speaks with pride about his son's continued growth. He says he is happy to see Sung Jun still developing as a person and notes that his son thinks deeply about the future even now. He adds that Sung Jun has also said he wants to study psychology again, a field that has interested him for a long time.

Sung Jun says he often gives friends at school advice on various matters, including their romantic relationships. Yoon Jumo then opens up about her own concern, saying that although many people support her, hurtful comments can still wound her and make her afraid. After hearing Sung Jun's advice, she is visibly moved and says his heart is very strong.

Sung Jun also speaks about the side of his father that he has found admirable. He says what feels remarkable is that Sung Dong-il almost never shows tears. He recalls that when he was in the fourth grade of elementary school, he saw his father cry hard for the first and only time in his life, drawing attention to the story behind Sung Dong-il's tears.
