Park Ji-hoon Faces His Worst Crisis in 'Becoming a Legendary Mess Soldier' as the 'Chef's Path' Ends
Park Ji-hoon’s character Kang Seong-jae is thrown into crisis in episode 11 of 'Becoming a Legendary Mess Soldier' ahead of the finale.
Actor Park Ji-hoon has reached a major turning point in 'Becoming a Legendary Mess Soldier,' the original series now heading into its final episode. With only the finale left, Park’s character is facing what may be his worst crisis yet.

In episode 11 of the original series, which was released simultaneously on TVING and tvN on the 15th, Kang Seong-jae, played by Park Ji-hoon, entered the division commander’s military food cooking competition. The contest carried high stakes for Gangrim Outpost, whose very survival was on the line.
During the military food competition, Kang Seong-jae worked in sync with fellow outpost members Yoon Dong-hyun, played by Lee Hong-nae, and Kim Gwan-cheol, played by Kang Ha-kyung. Together, they completed their dish and rose to a joint first-place finish.
But the mission did not end the way Kang Seong-jae had expected. Although victory in the cooking competition was supposed to help prevent the closure of Gangrim Outpost, the mission was marked not as “completed” but as “failed.” On the chef status window, the message “Chef’s Path Ended” appeared, and every recipe and skill disappeared.
Kang Seong-jae then stepped into the final round, where only one last person could be chosen. Viewers are now focused on how Kang, shaken by shock and confusion after the sudden end of his chef’s path, will overcome the crisis in the 12th and final episode. Attention is also on whether he can stand on his own and achieve a dramatic comeback.
Park Ji-hoon returned to the small screen with 'Becoming a Legendary Mess Soldier' after raising his profile as an actor through 'The Man Who Lives with the King,' a film described as ranking second in overall Korean box-office performance. In this series, he has portrayed the inner life of a solid character who does not lose his center even under pressure and scrutiny.
He also led the dramatic moments in which Kang Seong-jae joined forces with his fellow outpost members to complete the cooking challenge. Through those scenes, Park presented viewers with a more mature screen presence and a deeper charm as a performer.
His delicate emotional acting stood out as well. Park convincingly expressed Kang Seong-jae’s shock, bewilderment and confusion in the face of an unexpected crisis, using a wide range of facial expressions to show the character’s shifting state of mind and prove his value as an actor.
