Yoo Seung-ho walks abandoned dogs during heatwave to support shelter

Actor Yoo Seung-ho has turned his long-standing affection for animals into meaningful action, visiting an abandoned animal shelter to volunteer despite the intense heatwave.

On the 21st, My Brown, a specialized pet insurance brand, released a video featuring their brand model, Yoo Seung-ho, participating in volunteer activities at the 'Annie Moon' animal shelter, a non-profit organization located in Gyeonggi-do.

Yoo, who has consistently expressed his love for animals, joined the My Brown volunteer crew to tidy the shelter environment and care for the resident dogs. He drew attention for going beyond a mere visit, actively taking on the essential manual tasks required at the facility.

The released video captures Yoo's surprise appearance before the volunteer crew, as well as him walking large dogs, preparing meals, and providing eye and ear care for the animals.

The most striking scenes involved walking large dogs. Despite the challenging conditions—sweltering heat following heavy rains and muddy paths—Yoo volunteered to lead the walks.

“When I volunteer at shelters, I feel it's a shame that the animals cannot go for as many walks as they want because there isn't enough manpower,” he said. “Even if it's physically demanding, I think it would be helpful to walk even just one more animal.”

In the video, Yoo is seen working so hard that his shirt becomes soaked while walking large dogs for extended periods in the heat. His sincerity toward animal protection was evident as he focused on the specific needs of the animals, dedicating his time and physical effort.

Yoo also participated in a photo shoot to promote the adoption of the shelter dogs. By posing in front of the camera, he helped increase visibility for the animals waiting for new families.

He expressed his hope that more people would take an interest in shelters and give the animals waiting for homes a second look.

Yoo is known for his consistent history of volunteer work and has previously mentioned his dream of running an animal shelter in interviews. This latest activity is seen as a genuine extension of his personal interests rather than a one-time publicity effort.

Currently, Yoo is starring as the unexpected villain Yu Sŏngwŏn in the SBS Friday-Saturday drama 'Chaebol X Detective 2'. In stark contrast to his portrayal of a cold and complex character in the series, he is showing a different side of himself through his dedicated service to abandoned animals.
