Koyote's Bbaekga Announces Hiatus Due to Artist's Illness

On the 31st of last month, Bbaek Ga appeared as a special guest on the MBC entertainment program 'Sora and Jin Kyung.'

Bbaek Ga disclosed his previous career, stating, "Actually, before I joined Koyote, I did some modeling work. I worked as a model for about two years before starting with Koyote." He shared that he had a short but glamorous modeling career, which included shooting for various fashion magazines and walking the runway for the SFAA Seoul Collection, the predecessor to Seoul Fashion Week.

Currently, he is also active as a photographer. He confessed, "My major was photography. I was continuing photography when I joined Koyote, and usually, celebrities get 'celebrity disease,' right? I had 'artist syndrome.' I tried to avoid doing Koyote while continuing my photography work. I immersed myself in photography and expressed my pride in saying, 'I am an artist.'"

He recounted the past when he notified Shin Ji and Kim Jong Min of his departure: "Then I went to Paris. I felt a vibe that 'I should live here.' There is no concept of Americano there; everyone drinks espresso, right? It was so bitter. I felt like I wasn't an artist if I didn't drink it. It's so bitter and there's so little of it. Even if I tried to drink it slowly, it would all be gone in a minute. So I drank 6 or 7 cups a day. At home, I only listened to jazz or bossa nova. But in reality, since we perform dance songs on stage, it was too painful. I thought, 'I can't do Koyote,' so I declared to the members, 'I can't do Koyote anymore.' I told them, 'I'm going to take photos and live in Paris.'"

He added, providing a laugh by revealing that his 'artist syndrome' was instantly cured after the settlement adjustment: "I actually even got an artist visa and had everything ready to go. But when I said I was quitting, the members said they would give me more money. They offered a 4:3:3 split. Shin Ji gets 4, and me and Jong Min hyung get 3. So, I didn't go."
