IU deletes Chang Kiha's song amid controversy over Yoon Gai
Singer IU removed a song by former partner Chang Kiha from her social media after facing backlash regarding his current relationship with Yoon Gai.
Singer and actress IU deleted a song by her former partner Chang Kiha after it sparked unexpected online controversy when used as background music.

On the 6th, IU shared several recent photos on her SNS with the caption, "Living life to the fullest." The post, which showcased her daily life, drew attention because it featured the song "Living Without Incident" by Kiha & The Faces as background music.
The issue arose because Chang Kiha is currently in a public relationship with actress Yoon Gai. The two met through Coupang Play's "SNL Korea Season 4" in 2023 and recently officially confirmed their romance.
In response, some netizens reacted positively to IU's choice, saying, "It's actually cool to see her not dwelling on past connections," and "Music is just music."
On the other hand, others argued the choice could cause unnecessary misunderstanding for Yoon Gai given her current relationship with Chang Kiha, stating, "She lacked consideration."
As the controversy spread, IU did not release an official statement but moved to settle the situation by quietly deleting the song from the post.
IU and Chang Kiha were once one of the most prominent celebrity couples in the industry. Overcoming an 11-year age gap, the two met through SBS Power FM's "Jang Kiha's Great Radio" in 2013 and admitted to their relationship in 2015. They dated publicly for approximately two years before parting ways in 2017.
IU also recently shared news of her breakup with actor Lee Jong-suk, her other high-profile former partner. Following this, she drew concern from fans due to health issues. Due to worsening patulous Eustachian tube symptoms, she has postponed her scheduled Goyang Stadium concert in September and the release of her 6th regular album.
While the controversy stemmed from a simple choice of background music, it serves as a reminder of how the public relationships and past connections of celebrities remain constant subjects of intense interest. Regardless of IU's intention, the incident highlights a modern landscape where a minor choice by a celebrity can trigger diverse public interpretations.
