Jang Yoon-jeong sheds tears over mother's fraud allegations

Singer Jang Yoon-jeong has shared an emotional update, revealing her complex feelings following fraud allegations surrounding her biological mother. Despite the burden of long-standing family issues, she reached out to fans directly to express her intention to continue her activities.

On the 16th, Jang released a video titled "Greetings" on her YouTube channel 'Jang Gongjang Jang Yoon-jeong'. This marks her first official appearance approximately two weeks after the controversy involving her biological mother erupted on the 30th of last month, and about three weeks since her last content release on the 25th of last month.

In the video, Jang visited a bar in Jongno-gu, Seoul, to have a drink alone. The location is known to be where a junior colleague, whom she met through past broadcasts, is working.

When the junior colleague remarked, "I really didn't think you would come," Jang responded, "When I say I will do something, I keep my word," showing her consistent character. She explained her reason for visiting, saying, "I just mentioned it in passing. They said they were working part-time. Since they said they were working in Jongno, I suddenly thought of it."

The video included subtitles asking, "Were you wondering how I've been?" along with Jang's update: "I'm getting by somehow like this."

She continued, "I have so much I want to say. I should try to turn it into a song. And thank you," carefully conveying her emotions. While maintaining a bright conversation, Jang eventually grew red-eyed and was seen wiping away tears, drawing sympathy from fans.

Finally, Jang promised, "I will return to you with fun and warm, comforting content." Fans who watched the video left supportive messages such as "My heart aches for you," "I'm always rooting for you," and "Stay strong."

JTBC's 'Scandal Supervisor' reported on the 30th of last month that Jang Yoon-jeong's biological mother, Ms. Yuk, was embroiled in investment fraud allegations using her daughter's name.

According to the report, Ms. Yuk is suspected of receiving tens of millions of won from a victim she met at a sauna by claiming, "You can make a profit through investments related to 'Miss Trot', which Jang Yoon-jeong appeared in," and subsequently failing to return the money. It is reported that the victim filed a complaint against Ms. Yuk for fraud this past April.

Ms. Yuk has a prior record of being sentenced to prison for failing to repay approximately 400 million won borrowed from acquaintances. Police are conducting an investigation, viewing this current allegation as a private matter between individuals that is unrelated to Jang.

Immediately following the controversy, Jang's side stated, "We have not had direct contact with her mother for decades, and the text messages and investment-related details mentioned on broadcast are not true." They further clarified, "We are stating our position only to prevent further damage; there is absolutely no connection between herself and her mother's investment activities."

Jang is known to have cut ties with her mother in 2013 due to issues regarding assets. Despite the controversy surrounding her family history, she continues to communicate with fans in her own way through music and content.
