Kim Bo-ra, 44, shares emotional journey to second pregnancy
Entrepreneur Kim Bo-ra opens up about her natural pregnancy at age 44, detailing infertility struggles and reconciling with her husband, Tim.
Kim Bo-ra, an entrepreneur and wife of singer Tim, has revealed the journey of welcoming her second child through natural conception at the age of 44. It was not merely the joy of a "pregnancy arriving at a late age." The process of waiting for her second child was layered with the trauma of her first pregnancy, fears regarding childbirth, experiences at infertility clinics, and even conflicts and reconciliation with her husband, Tim.

On the 8th, Kim posted a long message on her SNS, looking back on the pregnancy, stating, "The story of the second gift that came at age 44 (specifically 42 years old)." After announcing the news of her second pregnancy last month and revealing it was a natural conception, she has now opened up about the specific journey leading up to the wait for the child.
According to Kim, the couple did not intentionally use contraception following the birth of their first son, Chanyong. While they began actively planning for a second child about a year to a year and a half ago and tracked fertile windows through a menstrual cycle application, pregnancy did not come easily.
Ultimately, they visited an infertility clinic early this year. Kim revealed that according to test results, her ovarian age was not significantly different from her actual age, and although the hospital set specific dates to attempt conception, it did not result in pregnancy. Having waited for so long, she experienced a cycle of high expectations and deep disappointment.
She also confessed that while she wanted a child, the pregnancy itself was not always welcome. During her first pregnancy, she suffered from back pain and eye styes, and in her final month, she lost about 3kg after contracting COVID-19. She explained that she underwent a cesarean section amidst anxiety about childbirth, and her subsequent recovery was not smooth either.
Kim admitted that due to her experience with her first pregnancy, she actually felt a sense of relief when a single line—indicating a negative result—appeared on a pregnancy test while waiting for the second. Her experience, where the pregnancy period itself was more difficult than the postpartum struggles, shows the complex emotions behind the joy of waiting for a second child.
During this process, there was also a shift in her relationship with Tim. The couple experienced minor conflicts, but through deep conversation, they restored their bond. Kim remembered that moment of reconciliation as the special point when she felt certain about the second pregnancy.
"I felt certain about the pregnancy on the day I reconciled with my husband," Kim stated, adding that at that time, she offered prayers of gratitude rather than fear. For this reason, she gave the second child the prenatal nickname 'Gift.' This signifies that she accepted the life that came to her not as a simple result of planning, but as an unexpected blessing.
Tim and Kim married in 2021 after dating for 8 years. They had their first son the following year, and now, in their fifth year of marriage, they are expecting a second child. Tim is a singer who debuted in 2003 with his first studio album 'I Love You' and became known for his sweet vocals and ballad-centered music.
Even after sharing the news, Kim continues to share her family's daily life through SNS. On the 9th, she posted a photo at the airport with her eldest son, saying, "We'll be back," though she did not disclose the specific destination or reason for the trip. It has not been confirmed whether it is a family trip ahead of the childbirth.
Ultimately, Kim's story is more than just a matter of age and natural conception; it is a deeply personal narrative. By calling the child a 'Gift'—after the long wait, anxiety, and marital reconciliation—she captures not just the joy of a new arrival, but the family's journey in accepting the process itself.
