Singer Lady Jane reflected on a year of parenting by hosting a first birthday party for her twin daughters at the Shilla Hotel in Seoul, an event so grand it felt like a wedding. She revealed the entire process, from the fierce competition for reservations to the preparation stages, showing her extraordinary affection as a parent.
On the 9th, Lady Jane uploaded a video to her YouTube channel titled "The first birthday party is almost like a war... The twins even grabbed the same items during the doljabi?!", documenting the preparation process for her twin daughters, Woo-ju and Byeol-i's first birthday.
In the video, Lady Jane expressed her feelings, saying, "It's finally the day for Woo-ju and Byeol-i's first birthday party. So many things happened over the past year, and I went through a lot of hardship because of it." Her husband also joined the preparations with an excited expression, showing special affection for their two daughters celebrating their first birthday.
Lady Jane confessed that preparing for the first birthday party was a much larger undertaking than expected. "When the children were around 100 days old, my husband said we already had to reserve the party, but I thought he was joking at the time," she said with a laugh. "Once we actually started preparing, it wasn't much different from preparing for a wedding."
She explained her choice of the Shilla Hotel in Seoul, adding, "Although it was a small gathering with only family, since it is the twins' first birthday, I wanted to create a special time that would remain a long-lasting memory."
The hotel reservation process, in particular, was much more intense than anticipated. Recalling the situation, Lady Jane noted that reserving a table at the Shilla Hotel's Chinese restaurant 'Palsun' is so difficult that people call it the 'Palsun Exam.' "All hotels start taking reservations from 9 AM two months in advance, but since they close instantly on the website, rapid clicking was essential," she recalled.
Her husband burst into laughter, adding, "From the day before, she even made me practice my clicking." Lady Jane shared the urgency of the moment, saying, "If we had failed the reservation, we might not have been able to hold the party on the date we wanted. Most other hotels were already fully booked."
Fortunately, the couple succeeded in reserving their desired time on the twins' actual birthday. Lady Jane said, "I felt such relief when we succeeded with the reservation. I wondered what we would have done if we hadn't."
She also introduced how first birthday party culture has changed recently. "Rather than taking studio photos separately like in the past, many people now do everything at once at a hotel—from snap photography to the doljabi and the meal," she explained. "Once the venue is reserved, half the preparation is done. After that, we sequentially prepared the snap photography, *hanbok*, dresses, and the birthday table."
On the day of the event, the family held an outdoor snap photoshoot at the Shilla Hotel Yeongbinguan in Seoul before celebrating the first birthday in front of a carefully prepared birthday table.
The highlight of the day was the doljabi (the traditional ceremony where a child picks an object to predict their future). The two daughters surprised everyone by picking up the exact same item—a microphone—side by side. The family responded with laughter and applause to the unexpected 'twin synchronicity,' and Lady Jane and her husband could not hide their proud smiles.
Lady Jane married actor Lim Hyun-tae, a member of the group Bigflo who is 10 years her junior, in 2023, and gave birth to twin daughters last year. Since then, she has been balancing parenting with her broadcasting activities, steadily sharing her Il-sang through YouTube and other platforms.
