Soyou on ex-boyfriend's infidelity: 'A waste of my beautiful years'
Singer Soyou opens up on her YouTube channel about discovering her ex-boyfriend's repeated cheating and her straightforward approach to dating.
Singer Soyou shared her candid views on dating, opening up about the experience of discovering her ex-boyfriend's infidelity long after their breakup. She drew laughter by expressing blunt frustration, noting that she felt it was a waste to have spent such precious time in her life on someone who cheated.

On the 17th, a video titled "From My Ex-Boyfriend's Cheating Story" was released on Soyou's YouTube channel, 'Soyougi'.
During the video, Soyou was asked whether she would prefer a partner who is honest about cheating or one who hides it until the very end. While she chose the latter, she maintained a firm stance against infidelity itself.
"I say it all the time. 'Go ahead and cheat. But if you get caught, you're out immediately,'" she said. This revealed a strict dating philosophy that shuts down any possibility of forgiving infidelity or continuing a relationship after being cheated on.
She then shared her actual experience.
Soyou revealed that "an ex-boyfriend once cheated on me," noting that at the time, she only had a vague, uneasy feeling. She explained that although they broke up for other reasons, she only discovered the fact that he had actually been unfaithful after the relationship had ended.
What was even more shocking was that it wasn't just a one-time occurrence.
"We broke up for other reasons, but it turns out he cheated a lot," Soyou confessed. She followed up with a firm assessment: "He was not a good person."
Looking back after time has passed, her feeling of regret over her wasted time was greater than her anger toward the individual.
"When I think about that time, it feels like such a waste. What was he even doing to me during my beautiful years like that?" Soyou said. As her emotions intensified, she changed her wording to "He's not even a 'him.' He's a jerk," which elicited laughter.
On this day, Soyou spoke candidly not only about her past experiences but also about her current approach to dating.
She stated that when she develops feelings for someone, she tends to be less talkative. Instead, she feels her emotions are revealed through her facial expressions, adding, "I can sense their heart a little, and when I feel like showing more of my feelings, I just say, 'I like you' directly."
She expressed a negative stance toward the so-called "push-and-pull" tactics.
"I hate calculating. I really hate playing push-and-pull," Soyou emphasized. This means she prefers a dating style where she expresses her feelings directly rather than hiding them to calculate the other person's reaction.
Her criteria for an ideal type have also changed slightly over time.
When asked about her ideal type, Soyou drew laughter by replying, "It's meaningless. If I were to be that picky right now, I really wouldn't be able to date." However, she was clear that she is more attracted to people who practice "self-management" rather than focusing solely on external conditions.
She explained, "It doesn't mean a muscular body, but rather a level where you can tell they manage themselves. To the point where I see their arms in a short-sleeved shirt and think, 'Oh, they must work out.'"
She also candidly explained her past preference for a "man with a pretty butt."
Soyou explained, "Whether it's a man or a woman, there are people who have a great fit in their pants," noting that she values overall body proportions and how clothes fit. She added, "Perhaps because I pay a lot of attention to butts, my eyes tend to wander there."
An attitude toward exercise was also a significant factor in her attraction.
Soyou honestly stated, "If they say they have no interest in working out, my level of interest in them seems to drop."
Ultimately, the core of Soyou's dating philosophy is closer to a partner's attitude and lifestyle rather than a checklist of physical traits. She draws a firm line against actions that destroy trust, such as infidelity, while expressing her current dating views without filter: expressing feelings directly when she likes someone and valuing self-management and life balance in a partner.
