Soyou Reveals Secret to 20kg Weight Loss: Using Only Chopsticks Instead of Spoons
Former SISTAR member Soyou shares her successful 20kg weight loss journey, emphasizing portion control and eating habits over extreme dieting.
Soyou, a singer from the group SISTAR, revealed the secret behind her successful 20kg weight loss, stating that 'portion control' and improving eating habits were more important than extreme dietary restrictions. She also addressed plastic surgery rumors that surfaced after her weight loss, emphasizing once again that "the change in my face is due to the diet."

On the 6th, a video titled 'Is this really healthy food? It's a total gourmet restaurant!' was released on the YouTube channel 'SOYOUGI.' During the video, Soyou candidly introduced her personal dieting know-how and eating habit management methods, explaining the importance of healthy weight loss.
When asked by the production team about the most effective dieting method she experienced, Soyou began by saying, "In this diet, I did not completely cut out or restrict any specific foods."
She stated, "What I ate was much less important than how much I ate. I didn't avoid high-calorie foods; I just ate enough to truly taste them. Ultimately, the key was portion control."
She further explained that in the early stages of her diet, she focused on the process of gradually reducing her stomach capacity to decrease her overall food intake.
"When your weight has increased significantly, your stomach also expands, so if you reduce your food intake extremely from the start, there is a high possibility it will lead to binge eating later," Soyou explained. "Rather than forcing myself to endure, it was much more effective to gradually shrink my stomach."
She also emphasized that eating speed is a crucial factor in weight loss.
Citing European-style salads as the menu she ate most frequently, she introduced, "I made them at home often," and advised, "To lose weight, the habit of chewing slowly and for a long time is truly important."
In particular, she drew attention by revealing that she even changed her eating utensils in the early stages to naturally reduce her food intake.
"In the early stages of the diet, I intentionally did not use a spoon," Soyou said with a laugh. "I thought using a spoon while dieting made no sense by my standards."
She added from her own experience, "If you eat with chopsticks, the amount you eat at one time naturally decreases. I could eat that much slower and feel full more quickly."
Soyou once again confirmed that she lost approximately 20kg through this diet.
She explained, "My current weight is around 49kg, and my highest weight before starting the diet was 68kg."
Addressing the reactions to her changed appearance after the weight loss, she said, "Many people think I only lost about 10kg, but I actually lost nearly 20kg. At that level, isn't it natural for my face shape to change?"
In fact, Soyou had been caught up in plastic surgery rumors due to her sharper jawline and more defined facial features.
She shared her honest stance regarding this as well.
"After I lost weight, there were many stories that I had plastic surgery," Soyou said. "Even my doctor asked me, 'Why don't you respond to such rumors?'"
She emphasized, "The doctor is someone who sees my face steadily once a month and knows the entire process of change. The change in my face is not from plastic surgery, but the result of dieting."
This video also emphasized that rather than extreme methods for short-term weight loss, sustainable improvement of eating habits and changes in lifestyle are important. Soyou explained that instead of excessively restricting food itself, eating appropriate amounts slowly and gradually reducing the size of her stomach was actually more helpful for long-term healthy weight management.
Soyou's experience, as she continues her activities looking much healthier after losing 20kg, is garnering significant interest by delivering the message that consistent changes in lifestyle are more important than excessive dieting.
