Chae Ri Na teases Shin Jung-hwan over 'illegal' military souvenir

Singer Chae Ri Na shared stories of her long-standing bond with Shin Jung-hwan, dating back to her days in the group Roo'ra, including a humorous anecdote from his military service. Her joking "revelation" left Shin visibly flustered, drawing laughter from the audience.

On the 15th, the YouTube channel Dakteo-shin released a video titled "She finally appeared, the woman Shin Jung-hwan cannot budge." Appearing as a guest, Chae Ri Na shared various behind-the-scenes stories from the era when she and Shin were active together.

Chae Ri Na expressed her unwavering friendship, saying, "If Shin Jung-hwan says he's going to be hit by 10 stones, I could take at least one for him," adding, "That's how long I've known him and how loyal he is."

In response, Shin joked, "I gave her the name 'Chae Ri Na' back in 1995. I think I had foresight. Even now, the stage name suits her perfectly."

Chae Ri Na explained how her stage name came to be. "It wasn't a name we created through grand deliberation," she recalled. "While we were traveling together just before he enlisted, he suggested, 'How about Chae Ri Na?' because my real name, 'Hyunjoo,' was too common. Later, when I was introduced to reporters using that name, it naturally became my stage name."

She continued, "Later, when I went to have my fortune told, they said I have to buy meals for the person who gave me my name for the rest of my life," which drew laughter from the cast.

When Shin joked, "In that case, shouldn't you be paying him royalties?" Chae Ri Na shot back, "I've been looking after him every time he went through hard times, so haven't I already paid off all the royalties?" making the set erupt in laughter.

The two also reminisced about their time in Roo'ra. Chae Ri Na jokingly teased Shin, saying, "During the time he was active, it wasn't even easy to break even, but after I joined, we received settlements and even won Rookie of the Year and the Grand Prize for 'No Secrets.' Since he wasn't around, my path was wide open," causing Shin to burst into laughter.

Nevertheless, she did not forget Shin's consideration. She expressed her gratitude, saying, "At a young age, when someone else took my place and received the same treatment, I could have easily felt hurt, but he wasn't like that at all. Even after returning from his deployment to Angola during his military service, he remembered that I liked accessories and personally bought me gifts."

Shin also recalled those days, saying, "I might not know about gifts for others, but I certainly brought many gifts for Ri Na."

However, Chae Ri Na immediately added an unexpected comment that turned the scene into a sea of laughter.

"Thinking about it now, that was illegal," she said. "He brought back a souvenir made of ivory, but I found out later that such items are prohibited from being brought in."

She then joked, "This guy has been like this since his military days. It's a habit," causing Shin to burst into laughter with a flustered expression at the sudden "revelation."

However, Chae Ri Na quickly added sincerely, "Still, Shin Jung-hwan is a truly warm person. Even in situations where I could have felt quite hurt, he always looked after me meticulously. I am still grateful for that heart," showing her affection for her long-time colleague.
