Chae Rim finds 99/100 happiness living in Jeju with son
Actress Chae Rim shares her philosophy on independence and happiness while living a peaceful life on Jeju Island with her son, Ha Min-woo.
Actress Chae Rim shared her sincere life philosophy by revealing the simple daily life she leads with her son on Jeju Island. Her peaceful moments connecting with her son in nature, coupled with a firm commitment to creating her own happiness, have resonated deeply with many.

Recently, Chae Rim shared an update via her Chinese social media (SNS) by releasing a video capturing daily life with her mother and son, Ha Min-woo. The video caught the attention of viewers by capturing warm, ordinary moments spent with her family in Jeju.
In the video, Chae Rim asked her son, "Are you happy living on Jeju Island?" Without a moment's hesitation, Ha Min-woo replied with a bright smile, "99 out of 100."
When Chae Rim asked, "Why did you take away one point?", Ha Min-woo innocently replied, "Because there are times when I get scolded by Mom." Chae Rim burst into laughter, warmly accepting her son's honest answer. Though a brief exchange, the natural connection and comfortable atmosphere between mother and son brought smiles to viewers.
Chae Rim expressed her deep affection for her son, stating, "Min-woo is such a precious being that it wouldn't be a waste to give Mom 100 points." The relationship between the two, who have become each other's greatest happiness and driving force in life, added a sense of warmth to the footage.
In another video, she spoke candidly about the values that guide her life. "I don't know why people keep telling me to look for happiness in men," she said. "I am standing proudly on my own two feet, so I cannot understand why they tell me to lean on someone."
"This is an enlightenment I gained by pouring out my energy, time, and even tears," she continued, conveying her belief that "happiness is ultimately something you create for yourself." Her message—that happiness is achieved through independence rather than dependence—carries weight given the trajectory of her own life.
Chae Rim's remarks are being viewed as a philosophical message that one is the ultimate master of their own life, moving beyond mere opinions on marriage or dating. The public has expressed empathy, seeing her words as a sincere confession born from significant life transitions.
Chae Rim married singer Lee Seung Hwan in 2003 and divorced in 2006. She later remarried Chinese actor Gao Ciqi in 2014 and had a son, Ha Min-woo, but the couple decided to go their separate ways in 2020.
Since then, she has settled in Jeju to build a new life with her son. Her choice to prioritize family time over a glamorous entertainment career and her stable life in nature have consistently drawn public interest.
Recently, she appeared on the SBS Plus variety program "Because I Am Single," where she honestly shared her life on Jeju Island, her experiences as a single mother, and her journey of growing alongside her son. Through broadcasts and SNS, her humble daily life resonates more deeply as the image of a mother and an independent woman carving out her own path, rather than just a glamorous star.
