Actress Yoon Jin-yi shared a glimpse into the unpredictable reality of parenting during a spontaneous family trip with her husband and two daughters. Despite unexpected hurdles ranging from accommodation selection to facility access, she ultimately found meaning in the trip by watching her children enjoy themselves.

On the 1st, Yoon released a video titled 'A Family Trip Where We Went to Heal but Only Wore Down Our Joints' via her YouTube channel 'Real Yoon Jin-yi.' The video captures the family's journey to Wonju, Gangwon Province.

The trip was decided suddenly without any prior planning. “Wonju is truly my first time, and it was a sudden trip,” Yoon explained. “Since it was Friday to Sunday, it was packed with people, making it difficult to book a hotel. It was a trip where we just booked whatever was available.”

Upon arriving at the hastily booked accommodation, there was unexpected satisfaction. The room was larger than anticipated and equipped with beds and toy cars for the children. Yoon reacted positively, noting, “I think this is the first time I've stayed in such a spacious hotel.”

However, for families, the actual usability of a space is as important as its size. After inspecting the room, Yoon noted, “This feels like a business hotel,” while checking if it was suitable for children. She soon discovered that the swimming pool and sauna were restricted to adults only. “Only adults can enter the sauna and swimming pool. I'm in a very difficult situation right now,” she remarked.

The family continued their journey by visiting unplanned locations, such as a valley. Because there was no fixed itinerary, they were able to pivot based on the situation. Yoon discovered an unexpected advantage to spontaneous travel, saying, “I think we are doing well at finding places. You don't have to have a plan.”

Toward the end of the trip, lighthearted bickering between the couple regarding the accommodation drew laughter. Reflecting on the trip, Yoon said, “It was a happy day,” but shared that her husband joked, “From now on, you book the accommodation.” Yoon shot back, “Then you book the accommodation from now on,” continuing the realistic banter typical of a married couple.

Ultimately, the children provided the final verdict on the accommodation. Since her two daughters loved the room, Yoon remarked, “The kids love the room so much. If we think this is how the kids should play, then I think this room is right. It feels like a kids' cafe.” The accommodation, which initially caused disappointment, essentially became a playground for the children.

The trip highlighted the paradox of family travel. While travel is intended for rest and recharging for adults, the presence of young children turns every aspect—transportation, lodging, meals, and play—into an extension of parenting. Yoon's experience underscores that trip satisfaction is often determined by what the family members actually enjoy, rather than the perfection of the itinerary or facilities.

Upon finishing the trip, Yoon shared, “It was fun, it was hard, and it was also touching.” Despite the physical exhaustion and unexpected hurdles that deviated from the initial goal of a 'healing trip,' seeing her daughters' joy made it a memorable family experience.
