Han Hye-jin Tears Up While Accompanying Her Mother for Dementia Testing: "I Thought I Knew Her Best, But It Was Frustrating"
Model and broadcaster Han Hye-jin became emotional while filling out a guardian questionnaire during her mother's dementia screening.
Model and broadcaster Han Hye-jin shed tears while accompanying her mother to a hospital for dementia-related examinations and filling out a guardian questionnaire. She had long believed that she knew her mother better than anyone, but as she checked each item on the medical form one by one, she was forced to realize that this was not entirely true.

On the 4th, a video titled "The Story I Least Wanted to Hear" was uploaded to a YouTube channel. In the video, Han Hye-jin visited a hospital with her mother and underwent a series of tests, including cognitive function testing, a genetic test for dementia risk, an amyloid beta test, and brain MRI and MRA scans.
A medical specialist who met them commented, "Seeing your daughter personally bring you all the way to the hospital and go through the tests with you looks good."
Han Hye-jin's mother spoke candidly about her feelings. "Hye-jin is 45 in Korean age now, so I suppose she can live even without me. She films YouTube, and she even puts in subtitles saying, 'My mother Yoon Ji-young, whom I love most in the world,' so that does make me a little happy. But my heart feels heavy because I feel like I am becoming a burden to my daughter," she said.
During a card-play test, Han Hye-jin was told that her brain age came out to 31.8. Reacting to the result, she said, "Is that all? That's only ten years younger."
The guardian questionnaire asked about her mother's lifestyle habits and cognitive condition. The items included everyday details such as the exercise she usually does, how much time she spends reading, her daily routine, and ordinary self-care tasks including managing urination and bowel movements, getting dressed, and combing her hair.
Han Hye-jin began filling in the questionnaire, saying, "I talk with my mom a lot and we go around together often. I know better than anyone what she did today and what kind of things happened."
But as she continued checking the items, her eyes eventually reddened. These were ordinary parts of daily life that she had not usually thought about deeply, yet facing them in the form of a questionnaire made them feel completely different. Wiping away tears, she muttered, "This is really frustrating."
She also blamed herself as she reflected on her mother's temperament. "I have watched my mom for 40 years, and I found myself wondering whether she had always had such a fiery personality. I also thought that maybe the reason was because of me," Han Hye-jin said.
