The mother of actress Hwang Shin-hye burst into tears while recalling her son's sudden traffic accident and subsequent diagnosis of full-body paralysis in his 20s. In a preview for the KBS 1TV show 'Park Won-sook's Let's Live Together' aired on the 22nd, Yang Jung-a and Shin Gye Suk were seen visiting an exhibition by mouth painter Hwang Jeong-eon, the younger brother of Hwang Shin-hye.

The most heart-wrenching scene of the day was the moment Hwang Shin-hye's mother reminisced about the time of her son's accident.

"Suddenly, without any warning, I heard the words 'full-body paralysis,'" she said, unable to continue, eventually breaking into tears.

She continued with calm resignation, "I used to walk around wondering why there isn't a medicine that stops tears from flowing," conveying the deep sense of loss and despair a parent feels for their child.

Those short words encapsulated the time the family spent crumbling before an unexpected tragedy.

Hwang Jeong-eon was diagnosed with full-body paralysis after being involved in a traffic accident in his 20s. The life of an ordinary young man changed completely overnight, and the family had to face a reality that was difficult to bear.

However, he did not remain in frustration.

Even in a situation where he could not use his hands, he chose the path of a mouth painter, holding a brush in his mouth to paint. After countless practices and efforts, he established a realistic artistic world and has become established as one of the representative mouth painters in Korea.

Mouth painting is an art genre where paintings are made using the mouth or feet instead of hands. It requires much higher concentration and physical control than general painting, and it is not uncommon for it to take several months to complete a single work. The work of mouth painters, who transform physical limitations into artistic possibilities, is evaluated as an example showing new possibilities for disability art.

Hwang Shin-hye had previously recalled the accident, which remains a lifelong wound for her family, through her own YouTube channel.

"That day was June 30th. On a day when it was raining very heavily, I suddenly received a call saying there had been an accident," she said. "At first, I didn't know it was such a major accident. I told my family to go there first and I stayed at home waiting."

She recalled the shock of the time, saying, "I was truly shocked when I later heard about my brother's condition."

Hwang Shin-hye's younger sister also said she cannot forget the memory of that day.

"It was to the point where we had to prepare our hearts," she revealed. "The situation was so serious that discussions about organ donation were taking place."

She explained the urgent situation at the time, saying, "At the time of the accident, my brother was unconscious, and he was moved from a hospital in Suncheon to Seoul National University Hospital for treatment. The hospital life lasted for almost six months."

After the entire family endured the time of despair, Hwang Jeong-eon chose a new life.

Shin Gye Suk, who visited the exhibition, looked around his works and marveled, "It is so delicate that I could believe it's a photograph. It's amazing how he can paint like this while holding a brush in his mouth."

To this, Hwang Jeong-eon wittily responded, "It does take a lot of handiwork," before immediately adding, "No, it takes a lot of mouth-work," making the scene erupt in laughter.

Hwang Shin-hye also could not hide her laughter at her brother's witty remarks, asking, "Why are you so good at talking?"

When Shin Gye Suk joked, "We are going through a lot of hardship," Hwang Jeong-eon responded, "I understand completely," and when Hwang Shin-hye asked, "Please say something good," he retorted, "Isn't that being quite gentle already?", showing the bickering chemistry of real siblings.

Although they are a family that experienced a tragic accident, the humor and warm affection toward one another still live in their daily lives.
