Jeon Su-wan fails to place in 70th Miss Korea pageant

Jeon Su-wan, who gained fame as a second-generation star of the basketball world, failed to place in the 70th Miss Korea pageant. Following her public recognition through her father Chun Hee-chul's name and various variety shows, she drew significant attention as she had become a hot topic after developing a real-life romance with Lee Tak-su, the eldest son of actor Lee Jong-hyuk. However, her name was not included in the final list of winners.

The finals of the 70th Miss Korea pageant were held on the 22nd at the COEX Auditorium in Gangnam-gu, Seoul. As 26 finalists selected through eight regional competitions competed for the crown, the showdown between second-generation stars Woo Seo-yoon and Jeon Su-wan was one of the primary points of interest.

Both individuals share deep ties to the basketball world. Woo is the daughter of former basketball player Woo Ji-Won, while Jeon is the daughter of Chun Hee-chul, a former national basketball player and current coach. Furthermore, both share the commonality of having established their presence to the public through the Channel A variety series 'When Our Kids Fall in Love'.

After passing the regional preliminaries, the results for the finalists were Woo Seo-yoon as 'Sun' (Good) for the Seoul, Gyeonggi-do, and Incheon region, and Jeon Su-wan as 'Mi' (Beauty) for the same region. While both received attention during the finals, the ultimate results saw a stark contrast in their fortunes.

The prestigious 'Jin' (Queen) title went to Woo. As Oh Su-min took 'Sun' and Lee Min-sol took 'Mi', Jeon was left off the list of major winners. For Jeon, who had already secured her spot in the finals through the regional competition, it was a disappointing outcome.

Jeon has built public recognition not only through her appearance but also through variety programs. In the first season of 'When Our Kids Fall in Love' broadcast last year, she formed a fresh relationship with Lee Tak-su, the eldest son of actor Lee Jong-hyuk. The two, who naturally grew close through the show, became a couple in the final episode and subsequently drew interest by developing into a real-life couple.

Lee Jong-hyuk, the father of Lee Tak-su, has also publicly mentioned his son's romance. Appearing on the Channel A show 'Groom Class', Lee shared that his son had recently started dating and revealed the family's reaction to his son's relationship.

Born in 2004, Jeon is currently studying dance at Sejong University. With her background as the daughter of a basketball star, the physical expressiveness she has built as a dance major, and her public experience through variety shows, interest is also mounting regarding her potential future activities in the entertainment industry.

Although she did not wear the crown in this Miss Korea pageant, it is highly likely that Jeon's path will not stop at being a mere participant in beauty pageants. This is because, following her rise to fame through 'When Our Kids Fall in Love', she garnered attention through her public relationship with Lee Tak-su and is also building her own foundation through her dance major.

On the other hand, Woo has established herself as a new protagonist in the 70-year history of Miss Korea by winning the 'Jin' title.

Ultimately, this competition served as a turning point where the paths of these two individuals—who share the commonalities of being second-generation basketball stars and variety show participants—diverged in different directions. While Woo obtained the official title of 'Miss Korea Jin' through the crown, Jeon will continue to expand her connection with the public through separate routes of broadcasting, romance, and dance.
