Kim Shin-young dismisses rumors of leaving 'I Live Alone'

Broadcaster Kim Shin-young has personally addressed rumors regarding her long-term absence from MBC's 'I Live Alone.' Speculation spread after she was missing from a group photo recently released on the program's official SNS, but Kim dismissed the controversy with a brief message: "It's not true. See you next week without fail."

On the 10th, Kim shared an article regarding her absence from 'I Live Alone' on her own SNS to provide clarification. This was a direct rebuttal to observations that she might be taking a long break from fixed variety shows due to personal schedules or company restructuring, coinciding with her decision to take a three-month break from radio activities.

The incident was triggered by a single photo posted on the official 'I Live Alone' SNS. The photo, released with the caption "Us, seemingly different yet similar," featured Jun Hyun-moo, Code Kunst, Dawn, Kim Dae-ho, Ryu Hye-young, and Kian84, but Kim was not visible despite being a regular member of the Rainbow Club.

While group photos of broadcast programs sometimes only include the cast members present at the recording site, interpretations grew this time because the absence coincided with Kim's recent adjustment to her long-term schedule. Specifically, since she had just announced a sudden three-month hiatus from the radio show she has hosted for 14 years, speculation arose that changes might also be occurring in her variety show appearances.

However, Kim's explanation was clear. She stated that her break from 'Noon's Hope Song' and her appearances on fixed variety shows, including 'I Live Alone,' are separate matters. Yonhap News also reported that while Kim takes a break from radio, she will continue her scheduled recordings for fixed variety programs such as 'Knowing Bros' and 'I Live Alone.'

On the 31st of last month, Kim announced through the MBC FM4U program 'Noon's Hope Song, Kim Shin-young' that she would be stepping away from her DJ position for approximately three months starting from September 1.

Having maintained a daily routine of meeting listeners for 14 years since starting at age 30, this is essentially a choice to temporarily set aside one of the main pillars of her broadcasting career.

In particular, Kim explained that due to the nature of radio, which requires broadcasting at a set time every day, there were practical constraints to managing company work and external meetings simultaneously. She made it clear that after reorganizing her company for three months, she intends to return to radio without being exhausted.

In fact, Kim's 'Gojingamrae' aims to go beyond a simple personal management company to develop content based on IP. According to Yonhap News, Kim plans to focus on producing short dramas utilizing her sub-characters during her break.

This aligns with Kim's recent moves to expand her scope of activity from her beginnings as a comedian through variety shows and radio into the fields of content production and business. Rather than reducing her broadcast appearances, she is essentially rearranging her timetable to expand her content assets in the long term.

After debuting in the entertainment industry through the SBS Gag Contest in 2003, Kim built her presence through variety programs including 'People Looking For Laughter' with her characteristic quick wit and relatable way of speaking. Since then, she has expanded her field of activity by crossing genre boundaries as a radio DJ, variety MC, actress, and singer.

In that process, 'Noon's Hope Song' held a meaning for Kim beyond being just a fixed program. Her long career as a radio DJ interacting with listeners every day became an important foundation for her identity as a broadcaster. The 14-year period itself is considered a significant record in the domestic radio DJ industry.

Therefore, it was a natural reaction for interpretations to arise immediately after her break was announced, suggesting she might suspend activities in other programs as well. However, Kim halted such speculation by directly stating, "See you next week without fail.'
