Alberto reveals small towels in Italian hotels are for bidet use, not faces

Broadcaster Alberto surprised fellow panelists on MBN's 'Heart-to-Heart Show Dongchimi' by explaining that the small towels provided in Italian hotels are intended for use after using a bidet rather than for wiping one's face.

Broadcaster Alberto surprised the cast by revealing the true purpose of the small towels commonly found in Italian hotels. He explained that while these towels are easily mistaken for being used to wipe one's face, they are actually dedicated towels for drying oneself after using a bidet.

During the October 31 broadcast of MBN's 'Heart-to-Heart Show Dongchimi,' the panelists discussed "Global Heart-to-Heart Love and War," sharing various lifestyles from different countries and conflicts occurring between married couples.

On this occasion, Alberto identified hygiene and household management as the issues he clashes with his Korean wife over most frequently. He stated, "My wife is great at housework and is very clean, but our way of tidying up is different," noting that he has a personality that feels compelled to organize things immediately.

He further explained, "Even when I eat snacks, I have to clean up immediately, and I do the dishes right after eating." In contrast, he added that his wife tends to handle tasks all at once, saying, "My wife tells me to live more leisurely." This highlighted how even when pursuing cleanliness, there can be differences in the method and speed of organizing.

When Kim Yong-man jokingly asked, "Is everyone dirty except for Italians?", Alberto introduced Italy's unique bathroom culture. He noted, "In Italy, there is a bidet next to every toilet. You wash yourself immediately after relieving yourself," and emphasized being careful with the towels provided in hotels.

Alberto explained, "When you go to a hotel, they give you three towels. You must not use the small towel to wipe your face. It is for the bidet." Upon hearing that the small towel, which is easy to mistake for a face towel, is actually for drying oneself after using a bidet, Lee Hyun-yi expressed her surprise, saying, "I didn't know."

Alberto also mentioned that it is difficult to find bidets in other European countries. He expressed embarrassment when encountering bathrooms without bidets while traveling abroad, asking rhetorically, "There is no bidet. What should I do? Do foreigners not wash?" His explanation suggested that Italy's routine hygiene habits may be an unfamiliar culture in other nations.

Daniel, who is from Germany, stated that there are no bidets in his country. He expressed pride, saying, "No country can match Germany in terms of urban appearance. Koreans are also surprised when they come to Germany. It is clean and well-organized." To this, Alberto retorted, "It's because tourists don't go there. Italy has many tourists. Nobody goes to Germany," to which Daniel agreed, saying, "I think that's true," causing laughter in the studio.

The discussion was a pleasant debate sparked by differing bathroom cultures and cleanliness standards across various countries. In particular, the fact that even within Europe, bidet usage and hygiene habits vary piqued the curiosity of the panelists.
