BTS earns 141.4 billion won from just 8 'Arirang' tour shows

BTS ranks 2nd on Billboard's Top Tours chart, earning over $100 million in monthly revenue with their 'Arirang' world tour.

BTS has proven its overwhelming ticket power in the global concert market through the 'Arirang' world tour. With only eight performances, the group recorded monthly revenue exceeding $100 million, ranking second on Billboard's monthly 'Top Tours' chart and significantly shattering their own previous cumulative tour revenue records.

BTS Earns 141.4 Billion Won Through 'Arirang' 8-Stop Global Tour

According to the latest box score released by Billboard on the 28th (local time), BTS recorded $105 million (approximately 141.4 billion won) in revenue through the 'Arirang' tour this past July. They took second place in the monthly 'Top Tours' chart, following The Weeknd, who earned $124.4 million.

BTS's achievement is even more remarkable when considering the number of performances. While The Weeknd held 16 performances during the same period, BTS achieved a similar level of revenue with only eight stages—half the amount. This suggests that the scale of stadium-level venues and ticket sales power, rather than the sheer number of shows, drove the box office success.

Billboard evaluated BTS as the third artist in history to record monthly concert revenues of over $100 million across multiple months, following Beyoncé and Bad Bunny. This indicates that BTS's popularity is not limited to specific regions or music release consumption, but continues to create massive economic value in the large-scale paid performance market.

The success of the European leg was also striking. The concert held at Stade de France in Paris drew 185,000 spectators and recorded $30.6 million (approximately 42.2 billion won) in ticket sales, ranking third on Billboard's 'Top Boxscore.' Performances at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London, Allianz Arena in Munich, and King Baudouin Stadium in Brussels also ranked between fifth and seventh, proving their massive draw in major European cities.

The cumulative records are even more impressive. According to Billboard, BTS has sold approximately 2.3 million tickets across 38 performances as of the 11th, with cumulative revenue reaching $433.2 million (approximately 599.8 billion won). This figure is already more than double the $213.9 million recorded during the 'Love Yourself' tour, which was their previous personal record.

This demonstrates that the scale of BTS's performances has qualitatively evolved. While 'Love Yourself' was the representative tour that ushered in their era of global stadium tours, 'Arirang' represents an expansion of a group that has already established itself as a premier global stadium brand. As the tour is scheduled to continue through the first half of next year, final revenue is expected to significantly exceed current tallies.

BTS's competitiveness extends beyond the concert venues. Their fifth studio album, 'Arirang,' reached number 92 on the UK Official Albums Chart Top 100 and remained on the chart for 23 consecutive weeks. On the Spotify Global Weekly Top Albums chart, it ranked second, maintaining a top-three position for five consecutive months.

The title track 'SWIM' is also seeing sustained success in the global streaming market, recording 10th place on the Spotify Global Weekly Top Songs and achieving 23 consecutive weeks in the top 10.

An artist's influence in the music industry is not measured by a single music release chart alone. To confirm the status of a sustainable global star, multiple economic indicators—including album sales, streaming, concert tickets, venue scale, and audience mobilization—must work in tandem. The 'Arirang' tour is significant because all these indicators are operating simultaneously.

It is particularly noteworthy that BTS, having embarked on full-group activities following a hiatus due to military service, is achieving record-breaking results in a massive tour immediately upon their return. Rather than a comeback relying solely on the size of their existing fandom, they are demonstrating scalability by drawing both a new generation of consumers and longtime fans into the market.

Ultimately, the 'Arirang' tour records show that BTS is not merely recreating past successes but is redefining their market value in the global performance industry. The 141.4 billion won revenue in July and the cumulative 599.8 billion won serve as symbolic indicators that BTS is forming an independent economic powerhouse in the global concert market.
