“They’re Just Gangsters”: DinDin Erupts as 2 Days and 1 Night Crew Hands Out Fines Over a Box of Peaches
In the episode of KBS2's 2 Days and 1 Night airing on the 18th, the production team declares all six members jointly responsible for Moon Se-yoon's "hard peach incident." The cast fights back with talk of silence and lawyers, and DinDin objects to the fines.
When DinDin saw how the production team planned to impose and deduct fines, he snapped, "They're just gangsters." The outburst comes in the episode of KBS2's "2 Days and 1 Night" airing on the 18th, in which the crew's claim of collective responsibility sets the cast against the production team.
A meeting room instead of the great outdoors
The six members travel to Seosan, South Chungcheong Province, for a "fine-clearing race." Unlike the openings usually shot outdoors, they are summoned to an indoor KBS meeting room. There the crew revives Moon Se-yoon's "hard peach incident" from the previous trip and declares it will establish clearly who is responsible. What might have been a chat about travel memories becomes a meeting about blame and punishment.
The crew says that after two full weeks of discussion it concluded the matter cannot be pinned on Moon Se-yoon alone and that the other members share responsibility. The room stirs at once. The members, among them Kim Jong-min and DinDin, push back hard, saying, "I'm exercising my right to silence from now on" and "I'm calling my lawyer." Unwilling to accept being held accountable, they trade sharp barbs with the crew in a tense war of nerves.
How a box of peaches became a "case"
The affair goes back to the earlier trip to Gangjin, Haenam and Yeongam. Moon Se-yoon tried to receive the lunch menu, stir-fried long-arm octopus, in exchange for handing the crew a box of hard peaches from his own car. He then realized, too late, that the peaches at the heart of the deal were not in the car. The plan to get the food worked, but the item promised in return could not be delivered. What looked like a simple mishap grew, after the crew reinvestigated, into an unexpectedly large "case."
Pleas for mercy, and accusations of insincerity
Once the crew presents concrete evidence, the members begin arguing over responsibility in earnest. Moon Se-yoon, at the center of the case, tears up. "I'm the biggest sinner. Please show leniency to the other members," he pleads. His colleagues doubt his sincerity and fire back, "You're being fake," to laughter. Even his apparent offer to take the blame alone does not escape their attacks, and the affair turns ever more comic.
The crew finally hands each of the six a disciplinary penalty in an attempt to close the matter. But when DinDin sees how the fines are imposed and deducted, his dissatisfaction explodes in the "gangsters" remark. With the crew insisting on joint responsibility and the members protesting their innocence, the dispute spills over into the fines, and the race turns from a simple travel mission into a "blame-finding battle."
How will a case that began with Moon Se-yoon's box of peaches end? How large are the fines the crew has imposed, and how must the six clear them? Whether members who invoked silence and lawyers can accept the crew's ruling, and the final verdict in the "hard peach incident," will be revealed on the broadcast.
