Former Jewelry member Ha Ju-yeon revealed she is the daughter of actor Ha Jae-yeong during a recent appearance on Noh Sa-yeon's YouTube channel. Now working as an office worker, Ha discussed her transition from the entertainment industry and the stability of a monthly salary compared to her former career.
Ha Ju-yeon, formerly of the group Jewelry, has revealed that she is the daughter of actor Ha Jae-yeong. Even after leaving the entertainment industry to live as an office worker, her father's presence remains significant. She noted that her father's popularity, built through Hallyu dramas such as 'Stairway to Heaven', 'Winter Sonata', and 'Summer Scent', is so enduring that Japanese people often recognize him more easily than her, particularly in Myeong-dong.
A video titled "Jewelry's Ha Ju-yeon's Lunch Break, Waiting Only for Payday" was recently released on Noh Sa-yeon's YouTube channel. Noh Sa-yeon met with Ha Ju-yeon, who was once loved by the public as a member of Jewelry, to enjoy a picnic and share updates on her life. The video featured honest stories from Ha Ju-yeon regarding her transformation from a glamorous entertainer to an ordinary office worker.
Ha Ju-yeon revealed that after her activities with Jewelry, she supported herself by working part-time at a cafe. She explained that she initially applied to hundreds of places to find employment but struggled to secure opportunities. "At first, I applied to hundreds of places. But I wasn't hired because I was younger than I am now. I wondered if it was because of my age," she confessed regarding the difficulties she faced. She explained that the process of finding work improved as she gradually built up her career.
She expressed satisfaction with her current life as an office worker after leaving the entertainment industry. "I like living as a non-celebrity after being an entertainer," Ha Ju-yeon said. "It isn't easy for entertainers to meet people. So, I like it very much." She suggested that her current life, characterized by maintaining everyday human relationships, suits her better than her time as a celebrity, where she had to deal with public attention and irregular schedules.
In particular, Ha Ju-yeon cited the monthly salary as the greatest advantage of office life. When Noh Sa-yeon asked about living a life of waiting for payday, she replied, "That is good." She further explained, "In the entertainment industry, if there is no work, no one gives you money. But as an office worker, the salary keeps coming in. That is why I got a job at a company." She clearly stated that she chose the stability of office life over the uncertainty of the entertainment industry, where one must wait for work to arrive.
The conversation naturally transitioned to family stories. Ha Ju-yeon introduced her mother, who majored in Korean dance and graduated from Seoul Arts High School. Regarding her parents' first meeting, she shared that it began when her mother, who liked him while he was active as an actor, followed him while he was attending Seoul Institute of the Arts. Upon hearing this, Noh Sa-yeon expressed surprise that her father is an actor.
Ha Ju-yeon's father is indeed the actor Ha Jae-yeong. Recalling Ha Jae-yeong, Noh Sa-yeon reacted warmly, saying, "That man was really cool," to which Ha Ju-yeon replied, "He is still the same now." Following Noh Sa-yeon's reaction to her father's past popularity, Ha Ju-yeon naturally shared updates on his current status and his works.
Ha Ju-yeon mentioned that many people in Japan recognize her father, noting that they call him "'Hasama'." She added, "Japanese people don't recognize me, but they recognize my dad. If you go to Myeong-dong, they know my dad." She explained that because his works were popular in Japan, fans there still remember his face to this day. She mentioned 'Stairway to Heaven', 'Winter Sonata', and 'Summer Scent' to explain how her father became a familiar actor to the public through Hallyu dramas.
However, there was a unique commonality among the characters in Ha Jae-yeong's works. "My dad always dies. If he appears, he definitely dies," Ha Ju-yeon said, drawing laughter as she added, "He only didn't die in 'Stairway to Heaven'. He played those kinds of roles a lot." It was a playful revelation from the daughter regarding the many characters her father played that met tragic fates. Having left behind a glamorous entertainment career to build a new daily life, Ha Ju-yeon showed a friendly charm to viewers by sharing these unexpected updates about her father, Ha Jae-yeong.
