Director Jang Hang-jun and actor Jin Seon-kyu are set to engage in a blunt battle of revelations. The conversation is expected to spiral out of control as claims of being disrespected during their first meeting are met with absurd stories involving bundles of cash hidden inside dried persimmons and 100-year-old wild ginseng. When Jin Seon-kyu finally snaps, asking, "Hyung, did you develop pathological lying?" the exchange escalates to Jang being told he needs to take medicine.
In the second episode of SBS 'Master Hang-jun', scheduled to air on the 22nd at 9 PM, Jin Seon-kyu appears as a guest. During the broadcast, Jang Hang-jun begins an unexpected series of revelations by recalling the moment he first met Jin Seon-kyu. He expresses lingering resentment, claiming that Jin Seon-kyu "disrespected" him during their initial encounter.
Jang explained that they first met at an after-party for an awards ceremony. He expressed dissatisfaction, claiming that at the time, Jin Seon-kyu seemed much more welcoming toward his wife, writer Kim Eun-hee, than toward him. Jin Seon-kyu laughed off the claim, explaining, "At the time, I didn't know Hang-jun hyung well," turning the moment of long-held resentment into a scene of laughter.
The banter does not end with nostalgic memories, as Jang enters what is described as "Moham-jun" mode (a play on his name and the word for slander), escalating his claims by bringing up an anecdote where Jin Seon-kyu sent dried persimmons to his house. Jang claims, "While I was eating the dried persimmons Jin Seon-kyu sent to our house, I found a bundle of 50,000 won notes underneath."
Jang's attacks extend to casting stories. Maintaining his characteristic exaggerated style, he claimed that Jin Seon-kyu secured his role in the drama '100 Days of Deception' by using "a 100-year-old wild ginseng root." It remains unclear whether Jang is revealing actual events or simply inflating stories to tease his guest, a rhetorical style that puts Jin Seon-kyu in a difficult position.
Jin Seon-kyu eventually launches a counterattack. Reacting with disbelief, he asks Jang, "Hyung, did you develop pathological lying?" He follows this with the sharp remark, "Hyung, it's time to take your medicine," repeatedly shouting "Take your medicine, take it!" in an attempt to stop Jang's outburst.
Kim Poong, participating as an assistant director, joins the fray. As Jin Seon-kyu shouts for Jang to take medicine, Kim Poong reportedly joins the "suppression operation" by saying, "Director, ah~ open your mouth." The atmosphere is expected to be lively as Jin Seon-kyu and Kim Poong team up against Jang.
Jang Hang-jun is a director familiar to the public for his unique sense of humor and wit since his debut with the 2002 film 'Break Out'. He gained recognition as a "10-million viewer director" with the film 'The King's Warden', which was released this past February. Jin Seon-kyu is also an actor known for his wide range of performances, and the two will move beyond work discussions to share unfiltered memories of their first meeting and jokes directed at one another.
From resentment over their first meeting to cash in dried persimmons, 100-year-old ginseng, and allegations of pathological lying, the battle of wits between Jang Hang-jun and Jin Seon-kyu will be revealed on the 22nd at 9 PM on SBS 'Master Hang-jun'.
