Jeon Hye-bin shares cooking advice after preparing feast for 18 people
Actress Jeon Hye-bin shared her experience preparing a large-scale birthday feast for her son Tae-o's fourth birthday, offering practical advice based on past struggles with cooking for large groups.
Actress Jeon Hye-bin shared a video on her YouTube channel on the 29th showing her preparation of beef seaweed soup and ragu sauce for her son Tae-o's fourth birthday. To avoid the exhaustion of previously cooking for 10 people alone, she prepared enough food for 17 to 18 guests the day before the September 30 celebration.
Actress Jeon Hye-bin has shared her experience of preparing a large-scale feast for her son's fourth birthday, reflecting on past instances where she overexerted herself by making all the food alone. Having regretted handling 10 servings entirely by herself in the past, she took a more strategic approach to her menu this time, offering the practical advice that "you don't have to make all the food."
On the 29th, Jeon released a video on her YouTube channel titled "This menu ends the birthday party. All-purpose ragu sauce & beef seaweed soup." The video captures her preparing food the day before the fourth birthday party for her son, Tae-o. The menu she prepared consisted of beef seaweed soup and ragu sauce, enough to feed 17 to 18 people, including both children and adults.
Jeon explained the reason behind planning a special party for her son's birthday. "Tae-o's birthday is September 30. Last year, since it was only three days apart from my birthday, we went on a family trip to Bali instead of having a birthday party," she stated. While they spent special time on the family trip, it appeared Tae-o felt some regret about missing a birthday celebration with his friends.
"He must have had good memories of hanging balloons and playing excitedly with his friends," she said, adding, "For his fourth birthday, I want to host a mother-made birthday party." Unlike the trip that replaced the party last year, she decided to invite friends this time to create the memories her child expects.
However, preparing meals for 17 to 18 people was no small task. Jeon revealed that she considered the movement and flow of the party day even when choosing the menu. Since it is difficult to host guests and look after children while cooking, she explained that she focused on dishes that could be prepared the day before and would maintain their taste over time.
This approach was influenced by painful past experiences. "Not long ago, I set a table for 10 people and did everything myself. I was crazy, really," she recalled. She added, "Even thinking about it now gives me goosebumps," suggesting how exhausting it was to prepare an entire guest table alone.
She clearly conveyed the lesson learned from that experience: "I felt it deeply then. You don't have to make all the food." It is a realistic perspective that there is no need to feel pressured to make every single menu item just because guests have been invited.
Jeon advised those facing upcoming guest invitations not to overdo it, saying, "You can just do two things properly and order chicken or pizza." Her sentiment is that sincerity comes from the preparer's peace of mind and heart rather than the number of dishes. Her efforts to prepare a feast for 17 to 18 people for her son while avoiding past mistakes resonated with viewers.
