Actress Kim Bin-woo shared on the 23rd that her family has faced unexpected illnesses, including high fevers and repeated colds, during their first two months living in Bali. Despite the health challenges, she intends to live in the area for three to four years to allow her children to play freely.
Actress Kim Bin-woo has opened up about the unexpected difficulties she has faced since moving to Bali, Indonesia. While her social media showed a life of blue seas and relaxed resort living, the reality was different. Her children suffered from repeated colds, and the family also dealt with insect bites and hives. Even her husband, who is usually healthy, suffered from high fevers, as the entire family spends time adjusting to the unfamiliar environment.
On the 23rd, Kim Bin-woo released a video on her social media with the caption, "This is how our family has been during our two months in Bali." Two months after starting life in Bali, she shared the truth about what they have experienced, revealing the side of relocation that was difficult to explain through beautiful scenery and daily life that looks like a vacation.
“Our family has been eating well and trying hard to adapt to the Bali environment for two months,” she stated, adding, “Since the environment changed, I showed a lot of beautiful seas and trips on social media, but in reality, we were suffering from many illnesses.” She explained that while the photos and videos online make it look like they are enjoying a relaxed and romantic life, the family's daily routine has involved many unexpected difficulties.
The health issues of her children were particularly significant. Kim Bin-woo reported that each of her children caught unexpected colds twice. Although she had prepared medicine for the so-called "Bali belly" commonly expected in Bali, they instead faced unexpected symptoms such as insect bites and hives. Colds also plagued the family, with Kim Bin-woo explaining, “We have been adapting to the environment and local conditions of Bali for two months.”
Her husband was no exception. Even her husband, who is usually not sickly, suffered from high fevers, as the whole family went through the process of adjusting to the unfamiliar climate and living environment. Life in a new place was not filled only with the joy of enjoying beautiful scenery. In the process of leaving a familiar daily life to take root in a different environment, they had to endure health problems and lifestyle inconveniences.
However, she does not regret the move to Bali. Kim Bin-woo expressed plans to live in Bali for about three to four years and shared a wish to stay for five more years if life is satisfactory. She added that a long-term residence plan is not yet finalized, saying, “I don't know how it will turn out.” She explained that they are currently adapting to local life in their own way through various trials and errors.
She also addressed questions surrounding the move to Bali. Noting that many people asked why she was going to Bali, she described the relocation as a "real challenge." She stated, "Our only desire is to try living without everything, to live with less, and to let the children run around and play." She wanted to move away from a familiar and convenient environment so her family could gain new experiences and provide time for the children to play freely.
“There are many difficult and hard parts, and the adaptation period is long, so I will gradually introduce what is good and what is not in the future,” Kim Bin-woo predicted. She intends to share not only the beautiful scenery of Bali but also the inconveniences and trials and errors experienced by an actual resident. While life in a resort makes one expect relaxation, her confession that the whole family suffered from illnesses for two months shows that moving abroad is a realistic challenge that differs from a simple vacation.
