Broadcaster Kim Na-young and musician My Q have welcomed a new family member. As the lovely rescue dog Topanga joined the home where they lived with two sons, they have become a family of five. Kim Na-young, who piqued curiosity with the phrase "A third member has arrived," shared the excitement and the deep considerations involved in welcoming a shelter dog into her family, providing a heartwarming moment.
On the 11th, a video titled "Na-young's house is now five! I love you, Topanga" was uploaded to Kim Na-young's YouTube channel. The thumbnail caught attention with the text "A third member has arrived." While it initially suggests the birth of a new human family member, the protagonist of the video is none other than a four-legged youngest member. As Kim Na-young, a mother of two sons, embraces a pet dog, a new change has arrived in the family's daily life.
The video begins in the car on the way to meet the dog. Kim Na-young could not hide her excitement, saying, "I can't believe this moment is happening." She explained that her desire to live with a dog grew steadily while she was looking after an acquaintance's dog. Her two sons had also expressed their wish to raise a dog for a few years. Although it was a common wish for the whole family, deciding to actually adopt required more thought than expected.
Kim Na-young confessed, "My heart was very large, but I couldn't make up my mind," noting that My Q was also firm in his stance at first. She then brought laughter by mentioning that she thought My Q would be the one to pour the most love into the dog once it arrived home. Since it was not a decision that could be made easily just by wanting a pet, there appeared to be realistic concerns regarding the fact that all family members must share the responsibility.
The catalyst that moved the couple's hearts was a dog at a shelter in Seongnam, Gyeonggi-do. On this day, the two set out to meet the dog in person. Kim Na-young expressed her anticipation, saying, "I'm so nervous. Another family member is being formed," but also added, "While the joy of gaining a family member will be great, there will also be many things we have to give up." She showed a cautious side, considering not only the happiness of being with a pet but also the accompanying responsibilities and lifestyle changes.
Unlike the nervous Kim Na-young, My Q showed a relatively relaxed attitude. Kim Na-young expressed her trust in her family, saying, "If I were alone, I wouldn't have even dreamed of it. Now that I have My Q and the children, I feel a bit more courageous." This implies that she was able to take a step forward with the thought that her husband and children are with her, a choice she would have hesitated to make if she were alone. In the process of welcoming a new family member, it was also evident that the couple is a reliable partner to each other.
Having returned from an overseas schedule, Kim Na-young finally embraced the dog Topanga along with My Q and her two sons. As it was a decision made after much deliberation, Topanga's joining became more than just bringing in a pet; it became a moment to start new responsibilities and memories together. As the title "Na-young's house is now five" suggests, with a lovely youngest member added to the house of four, new stories will begin to accumulate in the family's daily life.
Kim Na-young entered into marriage with My Q last October. As the two, who have built a new home with two sons, welcome a shelter dog as family, attention is focused on the daily life of the five-member family they will create with Topanga. Above all, their choice, which involved contemplating both joy and responsibility before adoption, makes one think once again about what it means to welcome a dog as a family member.
