Actress Cha Cheong-hwa will take to the stage in the musical 'Outrageously Fun Girls.' In the production, she will portray both the youth and old age of a single character, once again demonstrating her broad and impressive character range.
On the 7th, her agency Management Siseon released behind-the-scenes photos from the poster shoot for the musical 'Outrageously Fun Girls,' which opens on the 15th. Cha Cheong-hwa takes on the role of 'Chunsim,' a character who nurtures a dream of becoming a singer, delivering joyful energy and heartfelt warmth.
'Outrageously Fun Girls' is based on the documentary film 'Chilgok Ladies' and the essay 'Aging Outrageously Funnily.' The work brings to the stage the true story of grandmothers who began learning Hangul and writing poetry in their eighties, capturing the meaning of life and the value of dreams.
In the released photos, Cha Cheong-hwa, dressed in a school uniform and holding a microphone, gazes at the camera with a bright expression, embodying the bold charm of a young 'Chunsim.' Red sunglasses perched atop her head and a radiant smile add a fresh, fluttery excitement and individuality that immediately draws the eye.
In contrast, another set of photos presents a completely different atmosphere, with a permed hairdo streaked with white and everyday clothing that hints at a well-lived life. Lying comfortably on the floor or making playful expressions, the vitality of 'Chunsim' that remains unchanged through the years — and the hard-won depth of her life experience — come through naturally. Her seemingly nonchalant backward glance and true-to-life posture convey everything the character has lived through, leaving a deep and lingering impression.
It is reported that on set, Cha Cheong-hwa led the atmosphere with her signature bright energy and demonstrated true professionalism throughout. In front of the camera, she delicately expressed everything from the emotions of a shy young girl to the composed ease of an elderly woman who has weathered all of life's ups and downs, drawing admiration from the on-site crew.
There is growing anticipation over what kind of laughter and emotion Cha Cheong-hwa — who has consistently brought strongly distinctive characters to life with her own unique color across a wide range of projects — will deliver on this stage.
Meanwhile, the musical 'Outrageously Fun Girls' will run from May 15 to June 28 at the Haneul Theater of the National Theater of Korea.
