"A Wonderful New World" Tops 10%, Benefiting from the Finale of "Grand Prince's Wife"

On the 23rd, SBS Friday-Saturday drama "A Wonderful New World" (written by Kang Hyun-joo, directed by Han Tae-seop) recorded a nationwide viewership rating of 10.3%, surpassing double digits for the first time.

Shin Seo-ri (Lim Ji-yeon) and Cha Se-gye (Heo Nam-jun), who had suffered an electric shock accident in the previous episode, woke up in the hospital and immediately worried about each other. Later, while bickering, the two accidentally fell into a position with their faces close together, creating a subtle atmosphere.

After Se-gye learned that the person who had bribed the nurse had tampered with his prescribed medication, he realized that the person who had been tightening the noose around him all this time was Cha Moon-do (Jang Seung-jo) and ordered a background investigation. After that, ominous movements around Se-gye began to appear. Se-gye's prospective marriage partner Mo Tae-hee (Chae Seo-an) targeted Se-gye's family, while Moon-do revealed his true intention to bring Se-gye down. Anticipating that Se-gye would have noticed his plan, he said, "It seems the timing has come," and tried to eliminate evidence by killing the nurse who had changed Se-gye's prescription.

A misunderstanding arose between Seo-ri and Se-gye. When Seo-ri got lost in the forest while helping an elderly person with dementia, Se-gye went looking for her. After barely finding Seo-ri, Se-gye held her tightly. Seeing the wound on Seo-ri's palm, Se-gye became agitated. When Seo-ri asked, "Are you this angry because you were worried about me?" Se-gye shouted, "Officially, you're interfering with work, and personally, you're wasting my time. Please just stay still."

Seo-ri tried to put distance between them, saying, "Do not come looking for me like this from now on. I will also treat you as I would a stranger." However, the two confirmed each other's feelings. Seo-ri tried to drown her hurt feelings in alcohol, became heavily drunk, and pushed away Se-gye as he took care of her.

Se-gye exploded with the emotions he had been suppressing, saying, "I'm not sorry to you at all. Even if I went back, I would search for you like a madman, I would struggle alone and blow things up again, and even if you were disappointed in me, I would feel relieved as long as you were okay. I am truly sorry for being this kind of person, but I cannot help it. This is how I really feel."

Despite Se-gye's confession, Seo-ri tried hard to suppress her feelings and turned away when he tried to kiss her. But soon, as Se-gye was about to leave, she grabbed his wrist and revealed her true feelings. Se-gye said, "You grabbed me first," and kissed her without hesitation.

The epilogue returned to a past life and revealed the poignant bond between Lee Hyun (Heo Nam-jun) and Kang Dan-sim (Lim Ji-yeon). Although Lee Hyun held the status of a grand prince, he called Dan-sim, a low-ranking court maid, his close friend and treated her warmly. Then, smiling at the heavily drunk Dan-sim, he subtly revealed his feelings, heightening curiosity about the story of the two in their past lives and the future development of their relationship.

"A Wonderful New World" is a romance drama like a war on the brink, about Shin Seo-ri (Lim Ji-yeon), an unknown actress who becomes wicked after being possessed by the spirit of an infamous villainess from Joseon, and Cha Se-gye (Heo Nam-jun), a ruthless chaebol called a monster of capitalism.
