Ahn Eun-jin reveals filming 45 commercials since 'Hospital Playlist'

Actress Ahn Eun-jin reflected on the explosive recognition and commercial demand she received following tvN's 'Hospital Playlist,' admitting, "I feel like I'm still making a living off that image." Ahn left a lasting impression on the public by playing Chu Min-ha, an obstetrics and gynecology resident, in 'Hospital Playlist.' In the series, Chu was a character defined by high self-esteem and healthy energy, expressing her emotions with honesty and courage. When Jung Jae-hyung asked if she had filmed about 20 commercials at the time, Ahn laughed and revealed, "45. I actually filmed a few more than that." This highlights how her commercial value skyrocketed in a short period, moving far beyond the simple success of the drama itself.

She stated that before 'Hospital Playlist,' every audition was a high-stakes moment where she had to prove her current standing, but after the hit, she gained a solid acting history that could speak for itself.

"What was really great was reaching a point where I could go to an audition and it's okay if I mess up my acting a little," she recalled, adding, "Because I have a clear clip from 'Hospital Playlist' to show, I felt more at ease going to auditions after that work."

A signature work functions as more than just a credit for an actor. Especially for those who must secure roles through auditions, a character from a massive hit becomes a form of professional credibility. For Ahn, Chu Min-ha was exactly that.

Ahn noted, "Since directors recognized that 'she can actually act,' it became so much easier to take on projects." While she previously had to directly prove her potential at every audition, her performance in 'Hospital Playlist' provided a proven track record that explained her capabilities in her stead.

This is also why she holds the character of Chu Min-ha in such high regard. Ahn explained, "It was such a charming, high-self-esteem, healthy, and courageous character that I wondered when I might ever get to play such a role again."

She continued with a laugh, "It was so good because people thought that image was me, so I was loved even more. I feel like I'm still going with that image. Should I say I'm living off it?"

She revealed, "I didn't know what to do, so I asked those around me a lot," noting that she frequently sought advice from co-stars Shin Ye-eun, Ra Mi-ran, and Kim Go-eun on how to carry a lead role.

She mentioned that the advice from Ra Mi-ran was particularly memorable, saying, "It was just 'do what you've always done.'" She added that Shin Ye-eun advised her that to lead a project, she must prioritize maintaining her physical stamina.

Regarding Kim Go-eun, Ahn seeks advice not just on acting, but on interpersonal relationships and resolving on-set issues. Ahn praised Kim, saying, "I mainly ask things like, 'How should I resolve it when I have a problem with someone?' She is a total problem-solver. She gives answers immediately."

When Jung Jae-hyung marveled, "So that's why your reputation on set is so good," Ahn responded, "If I do exactly as Go-eun tells me, my reputation is bound to be good," drawing laughter.
