“Scolding isn't the answer” Hwang Bo-ra reveals reasons for disciplining her 2-year-old son
Actress Hwang Bo-ra shares her journey of implementing consistent rules and discipline for her son U In-hui to help him adapt to group life.

Actress Hwang Bo-ra has begun full-scale discipline for her two-year-old son, U In-hui, to improve his daily habits and his ability to adapt to group environments. After receiving expert advice that her son's sudden outbursts at daycare could affect the lessons of other children, she reflected on her own parenting methods. She subsequently revealed the process of attempting to change her relationship with her son by establishing and practicing consistent daily rules.
On the 8th, Hwang Bo-ra released a video capturing the realities of parenting through her YouTube channel, 'Hwang Bo-ra Boreaty.' She explained that she sought counseling from an expert who has been monitoring her son's developmental progress, noting, “U In-hui has so much energy and struggles to focus for long periods.”
In particular, she revealed that if U In-hui engages in sudden, disruptive behavior during group classes, the teacher's attention becomes focused on restraining him, which may prevent other children from receiving sufficient education. Regarding this, Hwang Bo-ra stated she decided she could no longer leave the situation unattended, saying, “Isn't this being a nuisance to others?”
During the consultation, the focus was placed more on overall lifestyle rules rather than the son's specific behaviors. According to Hwang Bo-ra, the expert pointed out a lack of consistent rules in U In-hui's daily routine of eating, playing, and sleeping. Reflecting on habits such as allowing her son to freely open the refrigerator for snacks whenever he wanted, Hwang Bo-ra admitted, “I was told that I am an avoidant type and a type that finds parenting difficult. Actually, I think that is true.”
In response, Hwang Bo-ra and her husband created a daily schedule and lifestyle rules for their son. This involved increasing the predictability of his life by limiting snacks before meals and adjusting meal and bedtime to consistent hours. Hwang Bo-ra decided to continue applying the expert's advice while recording her parenting journey step by step. She shared that after applying the rules, she saw the possibility of change as she watched her son eat his meals independently.
Two days after starting the discipline, an unexpected challenge arose. At the suggestion of an acquaintance, she visited an exhibition with her son for the first time. Hwang Bo-ra felt pressured by the fact that she had to take her son out alone without her husband's help, and she even sought advice from an expert beforehand on how to guide a child in an unfamiliar space like an exhibition hall.
However, the scene was not as smooth as expected. U In-hui, who had been watching relatively calmly at first, suddenly became excited upon discovering a train he liked and began running around the exhibition hall. While Hwang Bo-ra continuously apologized to nearby visitors and tried to restrain her son, the situation became so noisy that viewing the exhibition itself became difficult, prompting her to control his behavior more firmly.
As a result, U In-hui soon calmed down and began following Hwang Bo-ra's instructions. It appears that Hwang Bo-ra also realized that rather than simply scolding the child, it is important to present consistent rules and repeatedly communicate those rules in real-life situations.
Hwang Bo-ra's case demonstrates the difference between simply defining a specific behavior as 'troublemaking' and examining lifestyle habits and the environment together. In particular, since toddlers around the age of two are still in the process of developing self-regulation skills, their behavior in public places requires repeated experiences and the setting of consistent boundaries rather than just immediate control by parents.
Hwang Bo-ra married actor Kim Young-hoon in 2022 and had her son, U In-hui, in 2024. Kim Young-hoon is known to be the son of actor Kim Yong-gun and the younger brother of Ha Jung-woo. Since her marriage and childbirth, Hwang Bo-ra has been relatively candidly sharing her parenting and family life through her channel.
The eye-catching aspect of this video is that Hwang Bo-ra did not just single out her son's behavior as the problem, but also inspected her own parenting methods. Rather than suppressing the child in the name of 'control,' she approached it by restructuring the lifestyle patterns of both the parent and the child. While it is a private concern regarding the discipline of a two-year-old, it is also a realistic parenting example that shows how household rules connect to the order of group life.
