Oh Yoon-ah Remarries at 45, 11 Years After Divorce, After Saying She Wanted a Daughter
Actress Oh Yoon-ah has registered her marriage, opened up on her YouTube channel, and reflected on raising her son Min.
Actress Oh Yoon-ah has reached a new turning point in her life, forming a new family 11 years after her divorce. After spending many years putting her son first and weighing the question of remarriage with caution, she has formally confirmed a new beginning, saying with sincerity that she has met a good person.

On July 3, Oh Yoon-ah's agency announced that she had recently completed her marriage registration and is now living with her husband. The agency added that no decision has yet been made on whether a wedding ceremony will be held or when it might take place, and that specific plans will be discussed later.
On the same day, Oh Yoon-ah personally shared the news of her remarriage in a video released on her YouTube channel, "Oh! Yoon-ah." In the video, she spoke candidly about the concerns she had carried for a long time and the process that led her to make the decision.
She began by saying that she was getting married. She explained that, above all else, her child has been the most important presence in her life, and that she had hesitated for a long time because she worried remarriage might become a burden for him.
Oh Yoon-ah then said she had met a truly good person, and that what moved her most was the way her parents-in-law warmly accepted Min as if he were their own grandson. Seeing that, she said, made her feel that such a relationship would not have been possible unless it was meant to be.
She stressed that marriage does not mean her life will change dramatically. She said she will continue living diligently as she has until now, and described the remarriage as a positive change for her family. She also asked the public to watch over them with warmth and support.
The remarriage carries added meaning because it comes after Oh Yoon-ah spent years thinking seriously about how to balance family, life, and her responsibilities as a mother.
Oh Yoon-ah married a non-celebrity in 2007 and welcomed her son Min that same year, but the couple divorced by mutual agreement in 2015. Since then, she has raised her son, who has a developmental disability, on her own while continuing her acting career. Through television appearances, she has steadily shared the realistic difficulties of parenting and the weight of responsibility she feels as a parent, drawing wide empathy from viewers.
In past broadcasts, she has also spoken calmly about her battle with thyroid cancer and the difficulties she experienced during her marriage.
Looking back, Oh Yoon-ah said that when she was diagnosed with thyroid cancer in 2010, the burden of caring for her child overlapped with a worsening marital relationship, leaving her mentally exhausted. She recalled that after suppressing her emotions and enduring the situation for a long time, her body eventually began sending warning signs.
She said that when she felt the crisis of possibly losing her health, the first person who came to mind was her child. She explained that she felt she had to take responsibility for Min until the end, and that this process ultimately led her to decide on divorce.
Alongside her remarriage, Oh Yoon-ah has also continued to express hopes for a new family.
On the variety program "Because I'm Solo," which aired last year, she openly discussed her wish regarding the possibility of having a second child.
She said that when she looked at Baek Ji-young, she found herself thinking that she too would like to have a daughter. She added that because Min's disability made it difficult for them to have many conversations, she wanted to experience naturally exchanging conversations with a child.
Oh Yoon-ah also shared a realistic concern, saying that if she did not meet a good person this year and try next year, pregnancy might not be easy. She said that if she were to meet a good match, she would also want to have a child right away. She added that she does not think such a choice is as unusual or blameworthy in today's era as it may once have been.
When Baek Ji-young, who appeared with her at the time, encouraged her by saying she could have a child right away if she found a boyfriend, Oh Yoon-ah responded that, in truth, she strongly felt that way. With that answer, she did not hide her hope for a new family.
This remarriage is more than a personal marriage announcement by an actress. It holds deeper meaning because it marks the creation of a new family community after years in which Oh Yoon-ah raised her child alone and carried the weight of life on her own. In particular, her meeting with her husband's family, who naturally embraced her son as part of the family, connects closely with the child-centered life that Oh Yoon-ah has emphasized many times.
Attention is now turning to what kind of second chapter Oh Yoon-ah, who has endured so much time as both an actress and a mother, will write with her new family.
