Park Bo Young reveals intense transformation for Disney+ series Gold Land

Actress Park Bo Young has captured attention with a radical transformation that makes her difficult to recognize at first glance. Once the synonym for a cute image, she showcased a completely different atmosphere with a short cut, smoky makeup, and a significantly slimmer appearance.

On the 26th, a video capturing the scene of Park Bo Young's photo shoot was released on the W KOREA YouTube channel. In the video, Park revealed a chic charm that is 180 degrees different from her existing lovely image, accented by her short hairstyle and intense makeup.

What particularly drew the eye was her noticeably slimmed-down appearance. While her doll-like features remained the same, she projected a much more gaunt atmosphere. Combined with the radical styling, she completed a visual that makes one ask, "Is this really Park Bo Young?"

The reason for this change was the filming of her new project. Regarding the Disney+ series Gold Land, Park stated, "It was dark, and since I had to perform action scenes, I think I spent a lot of time rolling around on the ground," adding, "Since it is a genre that is not easily accessible, I wondered when I might be able to do something like this again." She specifically cited the fact that female characters are at the center as the greatest charm of the work.

The filming locations were primarily in Gangwon Province. Due to a schedule involving a seven-hour round trip, she stayed overnight locally and visited famous restaurants in Gangwon Province whenever she had the chance. However, she was not as free when it came to meals. Park confessed, "The director strictly limited my diet," and noted, "He said he wanted me to look even thinner as the filming progressed."

She then drew laughter by saying, "Since I was rolling around so much during action scenes, I lost weight easily."

She explained that her weight was naturally lost as the action filming and the restricted diet coincided. Gold Land, starring Park Bo Young, is a survival thriller where smuggling organizations, desires, and betrayals entwine around gold bars worth 150 billion won. As she challenges a gritty genre different from her previous roles, her short cut and slimmed-down look are garnering interest as a physical manifestation of her transformation for the role.
